I'm amazed at how readers can read all day i see some just sitting or lying down with chips on one had and a book on the other and they
will just read all day finishing a novel or a book that is sometimes and inch thick, it just marvels me, well i did read a novel before but that is
just half an inch thick and took me a month to finish it cause i wasnt reading continuously, i think i could, anyway can you do that?

What you already have a kid, you look so young, anyway babies are really needy when it comes to time, and i love babies even though they cry too much, i used to be on the Neonatal Intensive Care dept of the hospital that i work for and my long stay there i always had fun and enjoyed those always hungry and poopy kids.

Hey there chicgale wow 7 already how old are you anyway (oow sorry it is bad to ask a lady her age excuse my inappropriateness) anyway you look young and speaking of busy did you know that active kids most likely have more fit parents whom are hands on.
That is because of all the walking and chasing around the parents burn more calories than the parents who have behaved kids.
One positive aspect of having active kids.
I guess when i have a kid me and my gal, i'll just exercise.

Well, not in one day, but I used to be able to finish a thick novel in two or three days. It's because I couldn't just sit back and read. Mom would always ask me to help around the house. But I find it so hard to find a time to read now, though. :( I get too busy with the job. But as soon as I finish all the deadlines, I will manage time to read again. :)

Time is really important right now, if we want to be really productive in life it would really be hard for us to work on things like reading and if we also do have chores at home then that will really cut the time but i guess if you really do love to read then you will make sure to make time.

You're right. I bring my novel everywhere now, even at office. As I also work on Saturdays and I ALWAYS get lazy on those days, I can use my time to read.

Hi deodavid, absolutely couldn't nowadays as I'm so busy that could hardly spare any time. moreover I rather enjoy reading randomly and comfortably. Yeah, when I was young especially during those middle school days I was eager to know the ending of the story and read as fast as I could until to finish the whole book in the wee hours. I disliked to read the last page to get the ending like some of my friends did. I really enjoy every course of the description of the whole content written from my favorite author
I'm reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix currently. I do my best to finish a single chapter a day. There are altogether 36 chapters. I don't think I could finish it in 36 days for there might be something unexpected happen to disarrange my plan.
Happy posting

I hope I could finish chapter five before going to bed tonight. I would like to watch the online movie of it only until I have finish reading the whole story. Movie is quite different from the original story. The young kids are curious as well as loving to listen to what they haven't got learn from the movie. It's quite pleasant to have fun with them chatting about things they long to know Have a nice day

Well I did once during my college, doing nothing but to read and read while keeping my mouth busy chewing of some junk foodsBut that keeps me very concentrate in reading my favorite novel by Sydney Sheldon. I can't help but to finish the whole book because I will be losing my interest once I pause and read it again later. That took me whole day reading it but of course its not that thick kind it just 2 inches thickness of book maybe.

Oh, Sydney Sheldon is also one of the authors I have read before in my college days. It's fun to read novels specially when you don't have anything in mind to keep busy at. I used to read one of Sheldon's books but then I can't remember if I have finished reading it. There was one novel of her I really want to read that I even read it in a bookstore itself. I was just passing time then before I went to school. Cause I was a night shift back then. I loved the story of that novel, it's just I can't remember the title and the story itself anymore...

I can do that depending on the book. If it's not a thick book like Harry Potter, then I can read it in about a day if it's really good. But Harry Potter sized books take me 2-3 days to finish if I constantly read them. Lately, I haven't found any good books I'd like to read and I really don't have that much time to read since I'm so busy with school and my job

Thank you :) Yes, i'm very busy so I hardly have time to sit back and read something for pleasure but when I do, the book has to be really good. When a book is so good, I just can't wait for the ending so I read as much as I can and before I know it, hours have passed and then I finally finish the book. Sometimes I cheat and look at the last few pages to see if any of the characters I like die lol

Of course,I can.In fact,I have already read most of my favorite books in a day.And not all of them are novels. A good number of them are of books on serious topics like history. For example,I read 'Freedom at midnight' in a night and that too in the light of a candle.I love reading,I love books and I can't check myself when I see a book on a topic that is my favorite.

During my schooldays, ie over 50 years ago, i was a ravenous reader.there was no tv or computer except for the old and big valve radios.Summer vacations would be spent in going to the library and getting comics and Western cowboy novels.I would sit in a corner reading them till i got squint eyed.Except for playing with my building friends outdoors this was the only activity which i enjoyed the most.Nowadays my reading has dropped off considerably and i hardly read anything except the newspaper. As for a novel....forget it.

Hi Deodavid, yes, I did that a few times.
For one thing, the fiction is exciting, and the action is really fast.
Sometimes the words are rather big too, so counting the thickness of the book really is not a good way to judge.
For another thing, I must have enough time to read.
Those Chinese martial sword fighting books are very addictive.
Some teachers even warn their students not to read those during term time.
It is possible for a student to stay awake the whole night just for the sake of finishing the story.

really now scheng i think those books are really interesting hmm i'm going to research on Chinese sword fighting books, i have read before but nothing really catches my attention now but maybe a fighting sword thingy will get me on the reading track. And yeah the thickness of the book should not be what i use to judge speed on reading they could be big and long right.

I used to read novels before when I was in college. I even read half of the novel in a day but not in a day. It depends also if I am not that busy and not thinking of anything but just focusing on what I am reading.
It's good to read books or novels specially when the story is inspiring or touching that makes you realize of things around you. I love those books which tells more of stories which relates to real life events. How to face the world when you are in a certain incident or so...

It is nice to have books to read that have significance in life but i think that however fictional a story is definitely you will learn something or some kind of moral thingy and in the end it is or will be applicable in life , thank for the comment annavi.

I once received a dozen books for my birthday. I dedicated myself to reading all of them in as short a time as I could. During the Christmas break I read those ten and more, knowing that once the term started again I would have no time to read for pleasure. I averaged a book every two days - though I read well into the night. Today I cannot imagine having enough time to read a book in a week, let alone in a day.

I think it would depend of the novel, actually I rarely read novels. But, I remember that when the last Harry Potter was released, I read it in less than 2 days. I only stopped to sleep because I really was needing otherwise I would continue reading. But, I only did that with HP books.

I was able to do this when I was younger. I agree with what others say, it depends oon the book that you are reading. Also on how much you're so interested with the story. The first volumes of Harry Potter, made my mom happy. She never had seen so interested in a book before. I was surprised with myself as well. But now, I can barely keep focus after 30 minutes of reading.

My husband used to be a very fast reader. He could start a book in the morning and by night be finished the whole thing, it amazed me because like you , I take forever to read a book unless I read a little each day. Reading is something I enjoy most at night in bed because it relaxes me and then I can usually sleep good. Some people can do what is called Speed reading but I don't think they retain all the information in the story if they do that because I think they are just skimming over the pages and not really absorbing the content fully. I wish my husband would read more because it is really quite good for the mind.

He must be really fast then , i would like to read more but i think i don't have the time. But i do believe that if you do read more the more knowledge you get into your head the smarter or at least more knowledgeable you are. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

It's easy to do that (I've done it many times)
If you like the story that much that you're willing to find out more about what's gonna happen then you won't stop reading until you finish it.

Willingness interest and hobby of doing it in the past you will eventually get to be quick about it and efficient in reading, and it really helps that the story really captivates you , you won't stop and you will never wanna stop making you finish the story much more faster.

hey there whatrow, we are the same we tend to read on long so that we can really grasp the things that are in the book and so that after we have finished it it is really burnt into our memories making to us the reading more pleasurable and the book more valuable.

When I was in college I was able to read like three inch-thick books a day... of course I didn't read every word, but I remembered what they were about.
I can still finish a book with 200-300 pages a day if it's so interesting that I can't stop reading, if I don't have much to do other than reading.

I can read a novel in a day as I have a few times. However, in order for this to happen, the novel must be extremely interesting to me and one of those books that is very difficult to put down. I also need to have very few or no distractions during the day as well. It has to be a day when I don't work and when I don't have any other obligations. It also depends on how long the novel is as well, if it is more than 400 or 500 pages long, it may be very difficult for me to read it in a day.

yeah 400-500 that would be a lot, maybe the longest ive read was 100 pages and that was for a whole day and i cant even remember if i ate or if i just forgot that i did ate anyway it really is nice if we come in hand to a good really good book to read with no distractions right.

Absolutely! If it is a good book, that you can't put down, it is hard to control yourself and not finish it in a day. I usually take this as a signal for the kinds of books that I like, and don't like. If I have been reading a book for a couple months, and can only seem to read a couple pages, and find something that distracts me from it, I find that book isn't really relevant to me at this time to keep my attention and I put it away or give it away. Sometimes I will go back to a book after so many years and try it again if it didn't work the first place, but often if didn't catch my attention the first time, it never will.

hey there rewardsinlife,
It is really important that a book is catchy and that it really inspires the reader to read it or if not at the beginning of it no one would bare to continue on it the last book i read was the story of white fang and really it captured me and finished it in one day, i think i forgot to eat or forgot that i have eaten that day.
