England put to rest any doubts the critics might have had about the ability of English team to chase 94 runs for victory in final innings on sub continent pitches, by achieving the target in grand style by loosing just 2 wickets there by winning the second test and leveling the series and retaining No.1 position in test cricket. The doubts the critics had about English team's ability to achieve the target, however small it may be on sub continent conditions is not totally out of place. Just recently they faltered in scoring mere 145 runs required for a victory against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi and were all out for mere 72 runs. Pietersen who scored 151 runs in the first innings followed by a breezy 42 N.O. in second innings was declared the man of the match. From Sri Lankan side captain Mahela Jaywardene excelled in both innings scoring 105 and 64 respectively. Graem Swan who took 10 wickets in the match must have been the close contender for the man of the match. England will now go home happy at the end of Asian tour.

The real heroes of this match was peterson and swan who made the game for England. Srilanka was in there best form now but to beat them with 8 wickets is great.

England won the second match to level the series against Sri Lanka. KP was the key player again as he helped England fight back from losing two early wickets in the chase. This win keeps England at No. 1 position for now. But the real challenge for them is in the series against South Africa at home. The winner of the series will become the new Numero Uno.
Cheers!

Swann is a great player,he has been a good replacement to Giles or I can say he has played better than him.Pieterson is at his best and the 151 he scored in very less balls had made them have extra time and then they won it comprehensively. It is good they retained their number 1 spot but other teams are also playing good. They have to be in toes to stay at the top.
