Fasting is healthy for the mind and body

According to a doctor in the local news, fasting is not only a form of practice that helps the spiritual being (if you are doing it for religion)
if you are also to fast he says you kinda help in detoxifying the body by just consuming water and not putting regular load of food in the body
he said that by fasting you let your digestive system rest and so allowing it to heal since when food is in the body it sometimes causes
parts of the digestive system to have lesions in the digestive process, acids that in too much production burns ulcers in linings of the digestive track.
And that is for the benefit on the body side, the other benefit is that you mentally are struggling to avoid and thus making your mental
capacity strong since hunger and eating is instinctual and is normally required by the body , but for the mind to overpower the body's need
is a good training for the mind to be more stronger on avoiding wants and even needs that is beneficial when the time of needing to be thrifty
comes.

Yes you are absolutely right. fasting sometimes is good for health. We do fasting in different occasions. These are like customs to fast for praying GOD. But there is a scientific fact behind it.

This is very true!
Fasting keeps us mentally and physically fit. Fasting gives us the body the potential tho over come the problems you have. Even I used to practice fating with my friends.

My father does it all the time I can still remember when I was young he do the cleansing diet, fruits for 3 days just to prepared the body system for fasting after three days of pure fruits and raw vegetables he will start on water only no fruits and vegetable. My father is tough and have a strong willingness to do the fasting that's why he never gave up. It is not because of religions he has belief that our body must be rest a while on food and chemicals we intake for us to make healthier. My father now is almost 78 years old but still can do a lot of heavy works.

Hey there lyn,
Wow yur dad still do a lot of hard work at home hey he is now my idol i mean at 78 garsh, he must be really strong and fit when he was a kid, well that is why i keep on getting my self into shape so that when i am of age i am still strong and even stronger right now till that time comes.

you said it gracee kwenx, hard to fight temptation i have always been a heavy eater and it was really hard for me when served delicious meals and all for you for the pickin but i think that focus and thinking that it is all worth it would just really sell you the idea of the fast.

It's all true.Fasting is indeed good spiritually & physically.Fasting is a bit difficult at first but then if you get used to it then you find it easy. I have been fasting and I can say that it does me good...not only mentally & spiritually but also physically wherein I feel very light and healthy.

hey there shenlynn, isnt it great that we can offer some kind of a sacrifice to God and at the same time really actually benefit from it, Spiritually the first as we use it as sacrifice physically we can loose a little weight or feel nice internally and mentally it is a challenge not to eat for our mind but if we defeat it then we learn discipline.

Fasting is like you having a healthy diet, usually it is very effective in many ways when we need to loose weight fast. I tried that before when I am about having a busy workload duty in the infirmary where i don't have time to go to fast food chains. I eat veggies that can be eaten raw and can be eaten cooked with no salt or whatever seasonings that are to put on. I drink a lot of water a day at least 2 liters and no sweets for me. It took me almost 6 months and I find it beneficial for me, for it helps me manage to loose weight and focus more clearly in my work. Even time passed, I keep on having my fasting but only need to adjust a little maybe every other 3 months for me. Fasting is quite effective on loose weight than buying expensive foods for a day for an instructional healthy diet.

Hey there flashpointer,
You said it it is really something ideal to do and you get the benefits later on in life, i have done it a lot of times some for just a day and some for 3 days and i don't binge after that, i still eat healthy and just normally maybe my body has gotten used to it, so cheers to health for us, take care now.

I have read this about fasting before somewhere also and I believe it too. Howwver, it can be very difficult to fast initially but we can definitely try it as it is very beneficial for us both physically and mentally. Thanks for sharing
