Again, I read an article about this. The reasons for women to smile more easily and more frequently are that women's jobs and responsibilities require them to smile as you may notice some female teachers, secretaries, stewardesses and more seem to like smiling and that women were born to be in more positive orientation for socialization and tend to avoid conflicts and care for others's feeling. what's your take on this? Is it true? Please share.

i think this may be true because women usually can't hide there feeling but also if it is work related i think you will really force yourself to smile hehehe.

I worked for years in the library and always smiled, smiled and smiled. big fat grin while seeing patrons shove books back in the wrong places.also when I found the new book on dinosaurs with all the pictures neatly cut out with an exacto knife then stuffed back on the children's shelf.Of course when I showed the ruined book to my supervisor she was not smiling nor was I.

Women tend to show their feelings more than men do. Thus they cry more and smile more and show more care for others. While men also do these things but not as often. Because they have an instinct of being a leader of things and try not to show a lot of emotion to hide their weaknesses so others can't take advantages of that. That's just my theory....

And we women do the opposite. Taking advantage by showing emotions.

I think women smile more than pout. Smiling needs only a few muscles, while pouting needs more.

That's right! A women can smile very easily. The basic reason that is, women find happiness in anything and everything. They don't think much about what things are and how it works. Just a look into a flower or a clean place also can make a women smile. They do not require reasons to do so. We are just happy and satisfied with anything and appreciate everything around us. A women can smile even when she is not happy or even if she is depressed. That is what it makes a women. A strong hearted person, yet very tender inside. Guys do not find it easy to smile at everything because, they just don't think or care about anything and hardly notice anything around them. They are forever calculative about things and always search for reasons. Its hard to smile when you start searching for reasons.

I agree.the first reason maybe is that women are regarded as attractive if they smile a lot.By contract men should be serious and if a man smile a lot, they could be regarded as naive. In addition, men are always the breadwinners. So they bear big pressure. They have to feed the whole familiy,Therefore, they smile quite less than women. Finally, women are more sensative than men.If a woman sees something funny, they smile while a man may think what the other people would think if I smile.

oh my G pacobid Men are always the breadwinners? where in the world do you live? women have been also the breadwinners now for many years. my husband had colon cancer and a colostomy and was off work for a long time.Had I not been a bread winner myself we would have starved and been evicted. we also feed the whole family we smile and our feet are killing us, the boss bawled us put, and we smile.A customer was insulting us still we smile.Sometimes I think we women at times are just a tad nutso.

Yes i too think so. But more than that its the nature of them. They reveal love, affection and even to impress men. Of late the very later is prevailing nowadays.

It's been my experience, a a woman, that women are trained to just 'sit and look pretty' while men are encouraged to be more physically active. Because of the different ways we are encouraged to interact in society we, as women, have been aclimated toward 'just sitting and looking pretty'. This is drummed into our psyche at a very young age. As a woman myself, I've never been a smiler and the more I think about that the more I realize that is probably why I've had a number of psychological problems in society. I'm very serious. Because I smile a lot less and have never been very concerned with 'just sitting and looking pretty' it has really caused a lot of developmental problems and I never really thought about it until I just answered your question. But, again, I would like to clarify that because women aren't as encouraged to be physically oriented they are taught to 'just sit and look pretty' while men are encouraged to be more physical in how they interact in life. It's not so much that women find it easier to smile. It's just that women have been conditioned by society to smile more. That's my personal experience. Have a great day, hon! I believe this article you read is nothing but "hogwash". I can't stand generalities. Men think it's cool when they find out I hunt, fish, train horses, clean fish, shovel and clean out the barn and ride motorcycle. I believe we tend to be smaller, weigh less and all in all can't do some of the things men do, but smiling!? I steer clear of a man that can't smile!

Women are more gentle compared to man who has explosive temper. Woman are clear minded and they always take soft approach to solving things. Woman are friendly in nature and when we look good, we feel good as well. It's different for man, man needs to look serious, if not they would be seen as one who doesn't takes things seriously in life. Man are the pillar in family while woman are friendly forces, strength behind men, driving them. Imagine a day of hard work outside, would you prefer to see your wife smiling sweetly at you, or looking at you with an unhappy face?

Women are very emotional and we don't hide what's inside. We like to show it and we don't fear criticisms in doing so. We cry, we laugh, we smile easily because we let our emotions show. Men, on the other hand, tend to show less for fear that they will be criticized as someone who's gay.

I mentioned in my discussion that some of women's smile are fake. Do you agree with that statement, toni?

I think that women smile more often than men. My husband does not smile often especially to strangers as he feels his friendliness might be misinterpreted.

I beg to disagree. It's a gender sensitive discussion. All of us do have a different personality. It depends on our personality. There are some women who smile frequently and some men who smile frequently.

Yes women smile more. We are more free to show emotions. The role we play in society, gives us more liberty to be ourselves. Even women who works in the corporate world aren't so uptight compared to their men counterparts. I believe several factors have contributed to this attribute. Socially, we are expected to be more friendly, accommodating, caring and polite. The more positive a person was brought up, the most likely she will exude that positive energy to others, all the years of her life.

I hardly smile. I don't smile at everything. Congrats you've finally met a cynical and introvert girl in your life. (Meaning me) No offense.
