Why some people rather ask for money, instead of try to earn their own?

Seriously, I saw it and being asked for money many times whenever I was in these gas stations, or at downtown areas shopping with my friends. On other day, my co - workers and I walk this oriental restaurant, a lady brings her daughter come up to my co - worker ask for money. From what I see, she is physically capable of getting herself a job, and she definitely can work. Plus, she was smoking, more like an addicted or something. I shake my head, but see her taking a 3 - 5 years little girl, we just emotionally sorry for her. She said that she is hungry, and need some money to the gas station to get some food. Because of this little girl, we gave her $5.00, and my co - worker tell her to get a job, so she can feed her daughter.
What is wrong with some people nowadays. Even though we have tough time with the economy, we might still be able to get some menial jobs from fast food, or supermarkets. What so shame about it?

Not all people were lucky enough to get a job and was educated from a finest school, so people can not afford to go to school even they want to be educated. I felt sorry to them who are sitting beside supermarkets and outside fast food chains begging alms to people passing by. Sometimes I usually lend small amount of money for the less fortunate, mostly to older people ages 60 above. I don't give money to those who have enough energy to work to earn money. We need to limit giving money to less fortunate because most of them were used by underground syndicate to force them to work without a share to their earnings.

The answer is; go door to door, just like sales. Offer to wash their car and go above and beyond expectations. Write the house number down and knock on their door in a month.
Offer to scrub walls and windows. Write these house numbers down and go back in a month.
When and if you can then afford fliers, put them on doors, viewable to the street, before people come home from work. Look for these fliers to be gone when you walk by again about an hour and a half later. Then, knock on their door.
Unless they're disabled or obviously dysfunctional, almost anyone can do this!

Hi, Kingparker. Nowadays scuh phenomenon is not rare neither in U.S nor China. I heard about a shocking news like that a couple days ago. A man in North europe cut off his foot for his unwillingness of working. Moreover, in case any doctor install his foot, the guy even laid his foot in a microwave oven and made it burned. Isin't such guy sick? But they do exist in the world.

This thing is happening just about anywhere. I mean, even inside the church in our place. They keep on roaming around while the mass celebration is ongoing. I hope the government would take necessary action on this matter. These people for sure need guidance.

If it is possible, i would like to work for a life, i do not like ask money from other people.
But to many people, they are able to work on physical but they are unable to make it on mental. Out of job for a long time, they many lose the courage to try to find a new one. Sometimes we can not go along with their co-workers well, they feel they can not add into the circle, they may give up the try to go along with other.
And in some other situation, they are just lazy. Lazy to do anything, as they can get help from other people, they like keep their lives as it is now. To some poor people, they have their reasons to be poor. If they do not have any changes, nothing good will happen to them.

I'm sorry, but I don't have any compassion for those living on the streets. I don't care. Yes it is mean, but there are ways to get out of it. Yes, things can get rough, but there is always a way to get through whatever it is. I don't give out money. I bust my tail for the money I have and barely make enough to keep my own roof over my head. Even if you have kids on you. I can't do it. Someone used kids on me once for money, and I ended up in a failed robbery attempt. I can't trust anyone. This is why I sound like a complete jerk. I apologize for sounding like one, but I don't for my behavior. I have been in that position before, and it takes work to get out of it. There are some people who became actors who once lived on the streets.
Having said that, I am not a complete jerk. I do understand some of these people plights. I am unemployed myself, and lost my place, but I found another place until I get myself together. This is a slow process, but it is coming. Also, jobs are scarce, and despite the current unemployment numbers, the economy is still not that great. And even those menial jobs are hard to come by, at least around here. Some people don't hire any and everyone.

I personally rather find it rather demeaning having to ask for money for any reason. If if I fail to earn any and I am scrapping together any dollar that I can just to get by, my pride tends to really perhaps step right into the way of any common sense that I would have. Of course, there are just many people out there who find asking for money all too easy.
It is like they have no sense of pride or self esteem. They won't be able to really scrap together enough money to really do anything on their own. Therefore, they are going to ask for the money. I find that even the most menial job is more prideful than begging for money. At least until you are going to find something for more meaning. But then again, people would disagree with me and have no shame in begging for money.

hi there,
there are a lot of people like that here, who would ask money and even bring their babies with them to draw more attention and money. i actually don't like that because they can actually work but then i am also thinking that they probably can't because they don't seem to have gone to school and usually companies only hire those with educational background and have enough knowledge. but also if they can't work in companies, they can still work as nannies or housekeepers or whatever but then again who is going to tend to their children heheheh i feel like i am the one having problems for their future hehehe. sigh

Isn't the answer obvious?
It's because asking money is a lot easier than do a job to earn it.
And also they get lazy to get a job, or get stuck with the economy. Because getting a job is quiet hard with nowadays economy and most people are having lack of creativity/opportunity to have a job/business to do..

I was watching a TV programme about eastern European gangs of women who take their toddlers and babies on the streets of London to basically beg for money and some are taught to pick pocket and shop lift. These gangs were making hundreds of pounds each day. Just shows you what lengths they go to to make it their business and use children to do it! so in a sense they are working but not legally! Not like honest hard working citizens who pay into taxes for their country.

To earn money may be hard. You have to get up early and work till night. But asking for money is quite easy. That is the first reason.Secondly, some kind people like you give her money. And she may addict to this. She brings a little girl.I think even if you do not want to give money to the woman, you might help this inocent little girl.Mabe she could get a job.But the payment could be very low.And she do not want to work.

When I am approached by people asking for money, i try to check the situation. If I can see that they could still be capable of doing work to earn money i do not give in. I usually give food if they say they are hungry. But not money as I do not know where they will be spending it.

Whenever my husband and I go to the 99 cent store there is a gentlman who begs for money. he claims to be a Vietnam vet who is 30 years old (we are certian he is lying since the Vietnam war was in the 70s and if he is 30 years old there is no way he could have served). Randy and I are not working, but we would never beg for money. I live frugally as possible and do not spend money unless it is necessary. It is sad when people beg for money and I know some people really do have issues where they cannot work, but it is hard to tell who really needs help and who cannot work.

First of all, asking is easier than earning. :) Second of all, maybe they have no skills for nay jobs. That's a shame on them. I thought this only happens in my country. :( I often refuse to give any money to those women who brings babies asking for money. Doesn't mean I don't care about the baby, but they could've found a job. Helping people in house chores for example. However, this is not that easy as well. That's the "wrong" thing. There are too many people in the world but there's not enough jobs for all of us. Or maybe there are jobs for all of us, but not many of have the skills. Well, that's my thoughts...
