I have a duaghter, God love her, and she's a drama queen. She loves to tell me stories about the rest of the family. This morning she told me her son-in-law was told by his Doctor that he has high blood pressure and that he needed to go on a special diet. Of course when this tale got told to me, it was Mom, this is what the Doctor said and now his wife is in a panic because she has to chang the ddiet for the whole family. What do you think? Well I keep quite because I know there is more to come and sure enough here it comes. His blood pressure is not bad enough for medication, the Doctor explains that this new diet should be started slowly
a few dishes each week and more added as everyone got use to the new foods. I know this young family is typical, both parents work and child is a picky eater, so chicken nuggets and other fast food is often part of their diet, many things with a lot of salt and fat. So I tell my daughter, now you are going to love this, that I can't think of a better thing to have happened to them, they all need a new diet and everyone is going to feel better, the stress will go down, the hyper child will
most likely quite down and 6 months from now when they have made the adjustments they are going to be very happy with this new life style. My daughter's response was a very meek, I think you'er right Mom. Score one for good sense. Are there Drama Queens in your family?

Hello Savypat. There are a lot of drama queens in my family. Mostly my Aunts. It's actually more fun if you have them around. You'll have things to talk about as a family which will bring you closer. I love my aunts, although they're very conservative and unreasonably stingy, haha. Which is funny sometimes, when we're out eating dinner and they're not paying or offering a few bucks. Which is perfectly fine with me, since I love them anyway. Their in their late 40's and, guess what, just started dating. I'm 27 and they come to me for dating advice which is very weird. What I'm saying is that, Family is family, and most of them are crazy. Everybody is different, but that's what makes it awesome. (Nada para la familia.) Anything for the family.

Oh yes..there was anyway. My daughter that moved out used to be a huge drama queen. She has settled it down a bit now that she is older but when she was in middle school...oh my goodness she was dramatic. Early highschool was pretty dramatic too...lol.

Yes, there are and always have been. I may have been somewhat out of habit at one time. Now we spend little time together, and so there is not as much to rub off on me. Like you, I now try to use the voice of reason whenever possible and put a good spin on things. I also try not to pass information on to the drama queen so that she does not have a chance to embroider it so much.

No, but I have a friend who is one.
"I have a pain here. What do you think it is?" Every day she has a different pain in a different place and expects me to have x-ray vision and a medical education. If I don't say something like, "arthritis," she comes up with some horrible disease. She drives me crazy.
Drama queen plus hypocondriact.

There is, well actually it is my girl friend. She is a drama queen and so is her twin sister. They are always talking about things the family did and does. I know for a fact that a good healthy diet is the right way to go because I have done it with my diabetes and it worked real well for me. I do cheat, especially on the holidays, bit I do need to eat right.

I believe every family has one or two drama queens. Often the drama arises from information that is partly told, or gossip that ends up getting misconstrued. Either way, it sounds like it is a good thing for that family to be getting a change in the diet for everyone. It will be especially hard for the little ones to change if they are used to the fast food, but hopefully soon they can start to enjoy the benefits of a low fat diet.

Sounds more like gossiping and yes I have tons of those in my family. My own mom she will call with the low down on everyone's business. Guess what if she is talking about them she is talking about you. So now I don't tell her anything of significance and I make no comments that she can contribute to the tale when she calls someone else. I just want to stay out of it and more times than not she will stop talking because she has nothing to feed into her negativity.

We definitely have a drama queen or in this case, drama king. Everything is exaggerated so I never know exactly what is going on and I'm 1800 miles away so needless to say, I do a lot of worrying. This is the same one who is making me a grandmother and I'll feel better when I move back there and can see things for myself.
One advantage drama queens and kings have, if they will see it, is that nothing is ever as bad as they have made it out to be!

My eldest daughter loves to exagerate everything so that I never know what to believe. My late husband had common sense for the rest of the family so it seems she had an audition that could laugh at her sayings. But now that we all need to be more down to earth it´s a bit trying sometimes.
