I have heard that niacin in mega dosesn is a way to produce tryptophan that will produce seratonin. Anyone care to comment? Have checked out several websites and there aren't enough specifics.

According to The Prescription for Nutritional Healing vitamin B3 (Niacin) can help a person be more optimistic which would improve mental health.
Niacin is also used to lower triglyceride levels which would be a step toward improving mental, emotional and physical health and well being.
Maybe Niacin is a necessary nutrient to correctly absorb and assimilate tryptophan and other amino acids. I think it's worth a try.
