Greetings Retro gamers,
Seeing the previous post that I made about the consoles history made me thing the next logical thing about retro gaming after retro consoles. Retro Arcade games.
Countless of retro arcade games were big hits in the 80's and the 90's, most of us spent many coins there playing games for hours.
I remember the first time I played I was around 8-10 years old and I played in an uncles arcade shop. I can still remember the first game I played and it still remains my favourite.
It was the 1986 "Tekhan World Cup" a top-down view soccer game, were you had a team with a red shirt, I assume it was England playing against 7 teams including Brazil, Italy, Argentina and W.Germany though they were not mentioned by name. I didn't manage to finish it back then when I was a kid and finishing it some years later in a Mame emulator was sure like finishing unfinished business
So tell me people, What was the first arcade game you've played? If it's not also your favourite one what was your favourite one?
I've added a pic of my favourite arcade game too.

I am more of a Playstation and fighting game arcade kid but I think when you said retro,You might be talking about the likes of Mario and Pacman...
Well I kinda enjoyed Space Hospital,A tetris like game that uses Pills instead of bricks. I also enjoyed a Game called Binary Land, which is like a maze game where you have to reunite penguin lovers together.
I am such a slave to a company known as Capcom so Even before I got obessesed with Street Fighter and Resident evil, I had played their classics like Megaman,Ghost n Goblins, Bionic Commando and Final Fight.
I also love the old castlevania games

Yeap Capcom has great titles in their list I played street fighter and final fight lots of times in the arcades. To bad their not really using them nowadays, even RE has been spoiled :( At least the Bionic Commando remakes weren't bad ;)
Castlevania fan here too. I still have the Castlevania2:Belmont's Revenge cassette on my gameboy. (I bet the SOTN is in the old ones right?) The new platformers weren't bad though I have to say, Order of Ecclesia was enjoyable for me for example :)

I kind of feel the same, I mean what the hell capcom? Just put me in a city filled with zombies in every corner, give me a handgun and shotgun (not a sniper like in RE4 :P), make it hard to beat, and add some creepy music in it and some creepy cutscenes. The only thing that needs to think a little artistically and need some good job is when it comes to the main boss (make an equal or even a little worse than nemesis and you have yourselves a good re game :))
And what they make instead of that? a Duke Nukem with Zombies with the main character not being a bad-a*s like Duke :P
(jesus the word "a*s" violates the mylot's TOU, I just found that :P haha)

I use to be Capcom's biggest fan but teh way they were ruining their merchandises with non-sense reboots and DLC on disk, If Capcom is a wife, I want a divorce. I played every game created by Capcom that is how loyal I was with their brand Project Justice,Rival schools,Darkstalkers....name it, I played them all.
The more recent Castlevania games reminds me of oldschool devil may cry.

Hmm, this can be a tough one for me. I don't exactly my first arcade game, but I think it might have been Turtles in Time. Again not sure, I've played so many. I was also young when I first played my first arcade game. I have many favorite arcade games now, TMNT, Contra, Toki, Strikers: 1945, Simpsons Arcade, Ninja Baseball Batman, X-Men, and too many others to list.
