It is nice to know that originally, Philippines is a rich place. I just recently watch the documentary Philippine Treasures which is all about the wealth of the Philippines in the past and how was it gone. Sad to say that, Philippines now is not as wealthy as the Philippines in the past. By watching the show, i was amazed on how the Filipinos make very detaile gold accesories from belt to necklaces. These gold accessories is ranging from 21 karat to 24 karat gold and it is good that many of them are still here in the Philippines. But don't you know that a gold figurine which is originally from the Philippines is now at The Field Museum in Chicago? In addition, there are still thousands of Philippine artifacts which are with them and in their storage room. In the documentary, they show some of the artifacts like a dress which is made purely by hands and it was very detailed still, cause if you can see it, as if, every 1 square centimeter is composed of very detailed design. If you will study the Philippines, you will found out that the Philippines is very rich in culture, and it is not only a very simple country. This is a country is made to be proud of. Hope, in the future, Philippines will be back in its original status and will be AGAIN richer that its neighbor countries as it once became in the past.

Philippines is still a rich place.
It's rich not in gold only but in almost all natural resources that is needed to maintain life and any kinds of production. If only people had enough intelligence to even use it to help themselves while at the same time maintaining the nature, we'll be richer than US, Japan and yeah, even the Kuwait. But instead, we import it to be sold back to us instead of using these raw materials for ourselves to synthesize and sell the product at a higher price.
Really, it's sad how naive we are...especially in making ourselves some real money.

As an addition to what you've said, most of us do not see our country as rich. That's why they got stuck to the thought that our country is poor. As a result, unconsciously, they act on choices that makes them poorer. It's a matter of psychology. However, if one thinks that our country is rich, one'll immediately see opportunities. Therefore, the one person will act on the thought that will be advantageous for him.
Sadly, the media has already influenced most of us into thinking that Philippines is poor going poorer. I hope this will change soon. Or that the people will have the initiative to see the different opportunities our motherland can give us.

Yes I agree with you. I think it's no secret that the Philippines is indeed a rich country. We are rich in natural resources. Take for example our soil. It is very rich that even though you just throw a seed in your backyard, it will grow. Now compare it with other places like in Saudi or Iran. Most of their land area are deserts where not even a single plant will grow. Although their land is rich with oil. Still, it's how they cultivated their oil that they have become financially rich.
I think the problem with the Philippines is that most people do not take care of their environment. They don't know how to cultivate our rich natural resources. On the contrary, they exploit it for their own selfish reasons. The government is doing much to preserve our natural resources. Most of them, though not all, apply for such positions to serve their own agenda and not to serve their constituents.
If most Filipinos only realize that we were not only glorious and rich in the past but that we are rich today, they will do everything in their power to cultivate our rich resources.
90% of Filipinos are drowned in poverty. Yet, all the richness of nature surround them. We are a race blessed by God. The problem is, we fail to take care of what has been given to us. We, as a nation, are not good stewards of God's blessings. That is why most of us are poor. We only have ourselves to blame.

I pray for that to happen. However, it won't be easy getting all those back and it's harder to live in Philippines now thanks to many corrupt government officials. The Filipinos also needs education not just blind pride. They have to learn to develop themselves individually, too. And it's not just up to the president or the government officials to make Philippines grow, the people should also be disciplined and educated to live better lives and change themselves for the better.

We have corrupt officials, ignorant people and a very bleak future...
I wish I can finally get myself some real money to go to someplace else whose name is not Philippines. People should know better how to make themselves money instead of working their butts off and depend on the system but sadly, Filipinos are only taught to be employees by the school, no?

Well I guess every country has rich cultural history that they can be proud of. Philippines has its very rich and cultural past but the thing is that our country neglected to protect those that is why we are in a state that somehow degraded and is not even aware of those things. It is good to see that some were even in other country and some of our kababayans are able to know that from there and not from here.
Oh well, I guess we should all re-learn our past to be able to move on with our future.

Hope you are right, joannbilon.
I'm starting at my own to be able to provide jobs for a lot of Filipinos in the near future...
Though I may not have a business now... or money but with this thing between my ears, I know I can reach that goal in no time at all.
How do you fare in your journey to get Philippines back to its glory, joannbilon? I hope you're better off than me right now...

Contrary to most people’s beliefs, Philippines were and still are one of the wealthiest nations on the earth. With its estimated 400,000 metric tons of gold in its vaults no one can argue otherwise. Philippines as a nation are also believed to be rich in energy with their vast recourses in clean hydrogen. If the Philippines were to manage their wealth properly, they would be among the great economies.

I was very amazed at what I learned from the show. It makes me feel like Filipinos have been made to believe lies all these years. We have so much potential, so much resources than we know, yet we have all been made ignorant by this.
I could understand now why so many heroes tried everything to fight for our freedom. The country was really worth it.

I guess every country had it's own wealth, whether in culture or possessions. These can only be recognized if the government and it's people works hand in hand and make it to good use for the benefits/betterment of their own country and it's people.
We can also do that but the problem is, some of us succumbed to temptations like graft and corruptions and greed which is very common this days. Some people who are in position especially in the government thinks only for them selves and forgot their duties to served the people and their country.
Our nation could regain it's glory and be great again if....

Yeah! yeah! Why would other foreign countries be interested in conquering and moving in the Philippines if we are not rich after all? That is why Spain, Japan and USA really made a way to extract our rich natural resources when we are still under them. But now that we are independent, it is those corrupt officials which are our own kind who extracts it for their own good. That really is. The Philippines is rich but not all Filipinos are rich.

I have watched that documentary about the Philippine Treasure twice already. It was shown again during the Holy Week. Once again, I was amazed how rich Philippines before because of those golds which are made into accessories, jewelries and figurines. I had goosebumps. I just can't believe with what I have seen. I have realized to myself, if we can just turn back the time and start ourselves to become united, not corrupt, amazing people and country then we would still be rich just like before. On the other hand, I am saddened because some of our treasures are already in the hands of foreigners. It should be brought back to us because it is ours. Unfortunately, we can't. I just hope that someday Philippines will become wealthy again and that we will not suffer from poverty and hunger.

Let's do our part. Let us think of every little thing we can do that will contribute in order for the Philippines to be back on it original status. By doing what we are starting right now, I think we can do it. Imagine if each of us who are working online would at least invite some of our country men to work online and each one earn a small amount of dollar, I think this step will help our economy. Another, let us help the government in promoting our country thereby inviting more tourist in our country. By doing this, we will generate more revenues for the projects our government are planning. What do you think?
