my idea for a sandwich place

I have been thinking of this idea for some time and have come up with one that I would like your views on.
Instead of going to a sandwich place where there all made hence you do not know what is in it, how would you like a sandwich place that lets you make your own.
My idea is you enter the sandwich place where can choose a baguette, normal bread, pita bread or a wrap each at the same price. then you help yourself to the salad, meat and dressing you want.
Now your going to say whats different about this idea. well with you making the sandwich yourself you can make any sandwhich you like. The pricing would be a set price for the bread lets say 50p, then 50p for salad, and 50p for meat and then 10p for dressing. therefore if you did not want meat or salad you save money.
What do you think of this idea? The prices are just random ideas at the moment.

i think this idea has already been done to be honest. i mean, even deli's that make the sandwich for you still only charge for what goes in it.

does no one on here read these things.
I am saying that YOU make the sandwich yourself no one else, you use your own hands to cut the bread, pick up the meat etc. I know that deli's do not do this as they have a man behind the counter who does this for you.

excuse me, but I was saying that why would someone want to make their own sandwich, whenever the deli woman/man makes it FOR you, yet still only charges for what goes in it.
They don't charge for their time! .. so therefore why would someone want to make it themselves, when someone else will do it.
I did read it, but thanks for the attitude.

That idea is already out there though, by private non chains bakers and deli's also subway. You should try it out your way though if you could get food cheap enough to make a decent profit :0)Think of all those hungry office workers.

you seem to be the only one who has read this post properly.
I mean you pick the bread up you want put it on your plate, cut the bread how you want it, you butter it etc put your own filling. there is no one behind the counter doing this for you.

So your idea is like that of a salad bar. Salad bar has all we need to make salad and you can do your own depending on your choice. Well a sandwich bar is a real good idea. I myself, would so enjoy a sandwich bar just as I enjoy a salad bar. At home I do love to experiment in making different kind of sandwiches. I am now contemplating if I could convert this into business.

I think the problem with this - having read what you are saying - is the health department. Customers would have to wear disposable gloves if they were to take the lunch meat and cheese and all themselves - esp. if those items were stacked. Even if the amount for the sandwich was separated by this slices of deli paper, there is always the chance someone could touch the food that another would eat. A salad bar has a protective "cough and sneeze" cover over it and people use tongs to get their salad choices. Tongs might be difficult to use to pick up slices of cheese or some lunch meats, esp. soft ones. That is why places that have something similar have the employees make the sandwiches from the items you choose, because it can be done under strict sanitary conditions.

The idea of walking in to a sandwich place and being in charge of the type of sandwich that you eat is remarkable. People buy sandwiches and end up picking stuff out of them. With a sandwich place that allows you to pick the kind of bread that you want and fill it with what you prefer, who would go for sandwiches that may not have what one wants.
