I am a cosplayer but I don't know about our fellow mylotter's thoughts about cosplayer so I tried to bring it up as a topic. I've been cosplaying or putting up anime costumes since high school and we find it really enjoyable acting as we are in character. basically there are conventions like this but most people find it wierd and like a simple costume party. Share me your thoughts about cosplay and don't hesitate to ask me anything about it. Besides, it is an art to share =D

hi there. I am a high school teacher. I do notice some of my students would love to be in a costume of their favorite character. But only few of them do. Maybe 2 out of 10 students that is why sometime some classmates would consider them weird. So what do you really feel when your in it? when your on that costume. I would like to understand them better.

I love Kurapika from Hunter x Hunter. It suits my personality. I even blonded my hair as soon as i got the chance (and the permission) to do so =D
Think of a great anime/ character that you want to be in. It could be someone you idolized since childhood and such. Sometimes they want to cosplay a character out of coolness or popularity but the best advice if you want to cosplay is to internalized your character and choose the best one that your comfortable with.

Hi resy! I also like the name kurapika. Actually I used this as my code name when I have my 2 month training. I was able to get the name because my children are always watching anime and yes I do also enjoy watching it with them. Nobody among my co trainees were able to guess or imagine I was that person using that name. I just love watching them talking about the character most of the time.

Thank you so much for that feedback. I really enjoyed being myself as that anime character. Hope you enjoy your pseudonym in the office, too. LOL :)
Great to know your kids are watching that series, they're on the right track; don't worry. The series teaches them to cherish friendship and love what they're doing and get that goal in life by giving all the effort they've got.
Wow, hope to hear more about you and your thoughts about these here in mylot. Thanks :D

No it's not weird! I've always wanted to try cosplaying but I never had enough money for it. In high school, I usually attend cosplay conventions in the mall with some of my friends and we always talked about planning to cosplay but that never came true because cosplaying costs a lot of money. I guess it will just be my dream to cosplay, it will never come true anymore.

It doesn't mean that it is expensive when you copsplay, all you need to do is to be creative. Sometimes, you will see some cosplayers who just made their costumes on their won and we're bringing back that idea to be creative instead of having someone sew the cosplay for you at an expensive price.
there are also tailors who doesn't make their price sky rocket high. All you need to do is to be in a discussion in which allows you to know the basic and how to do it in a low cost and such resourcefulness needed.
Hope to hear more of what characters you want to cosplay so far and happy mylotting about it here!

Hahaha... you guessed it right! good job!!
Yup; I do love to cosplay also. It's a freedom for me from work pressure and stress reliever... from everyday life and such. It is one way of escapping from the normal boring life and at the same time we enjoy being together with other anime fans.

I love anime! but not to the extent i'll do cosplay. Don't get me wrong.. I'm not against cosplay but for it's just too much effort. It just doesn't fit me I guess.
But i loved a number of anime:
Slamdunk,Dragonball, Naruto, Hajime no ippo, and a lot mroe.
You should share your cosplay work here in mylot :)

LOLS. It doesn't mean that you love watching anime means you should be a cosplayer.
For me it is just living the fandom that much. If you're proud wearing the character; that's fine. If you're fan watching without exerting effort to it; that's also fine. Cosplaying is a matter of choice and it is like getting to wear the character that you like ^_^-)
Love it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about cosplaying. Happy mylotting and please do share your thoughts more about the favorite anime that you like ^___^-)

Though having never been a Cosplayer myself,I am aware of the concept from having seen Comic Con galleries and videos posted online of fans dressing up as their favourite Characters..So the idea is not just a portrayal of the Character for such con events, but can also involve role play activities with friends at other times too?

Yes you can. Like roleplaying, cosplaying is nicer and acceptable nowadays since it is now being held in conventions.
Also you will see cosplayers in teams and groups. They ussualy have skits to peroform whenever there are group competitions reenacting a specific scene in the anime or creating a twist of stories in these characters.
In general; Cosplaying is fun =D

I'm a cosplayer. I've been for many years and it's the best outlet from reality. It's so much fun and I enjoy making all of my costumes, attending conventions, and gatherings. I hosted the last gathering for Lolitas and as a first time it was a tremendous experience.
