Valthaty given run out against Pune

As in tomorrows match we have seen that Valthaty was run out and I will say he sacrificed his wicket for Gilchirist.But Gilli didn't made use of it as he got run out in the next over.But my problem was that as gilli crossed to the opposite side Valthaty was still standing over there and he crossed the line then only valthaty came out of crease to sacrifice his wicket.So my question is it doesn't matter whether he is in the crease and they cross inside it and then the other person sacrifices it or it was a bad decision during the match.

Yes. i also watched the incident. i find no need of sacrificing valthatty's wicket as it was a complete mistake of gillcrist. your question is valid as the commendator told that gilcrist is the actual man to go as he crossed the batsmen inside the crease. i think it was a wrong decision but i dont know more about that rule.
