Ants!!!

I have sugar ants invading my home and the frustration is driving me nuts. I actually hired an exterminator to get rid of them and he came and sprayed and bated and the stupid ants are still coming in, getting into my kitchen cupboards and avoiding the traps altogether!
I HATE ANTS! Well, I hate any bugs, really, but I'm just dealing with the ants right now so I hate them most at the moment.
Have you ever had an exterminator fail so abysmally like this? My girlfriend gave me a recipe for some ant bait that claims to really work and it doesn't cost near as much as the exterminator so I'm off to the store to get the essential ingredient, borax. Wish me luck!
How do you handle pests like this?

i hate ants too. they have even invaded my closet and ruined a lot of my clothes
we have never hired an exterminator. we just look for the things that keep them coming and then we do some cleaning and they actually just go away. there were even times that i boiled some water and poured them it hehehe. we don't use any forms of chemicals.

Yah, I wish I hadn't hired this exterminator. It was a total waste of money, which I cannot afford!
I'll be getting the boric acid today to make my ant traps with. Here's hoping it works as well as my girlfriend says it does.

I so feel with you. Thank God the ants stayed out of the house in my mothers home, and preferred to invade the garden.
I had a battle with moths once when I was in my small apartment. Luckily throwing the infested stuff out, washing the cupboards and getting these gluey stripes helped......

Well, I don't think I'll be calling an exterminator again! If I'm going to spend that kind of money, I should at least be rid of the pests!

OK, this is easy! You can get rid of the ants at no cost. Next time you go to a restaurant for a cup of coffee, pick up a few of those little pink packages of artificial sweetener. Its a deadly poison to ants, and not so good for humans either! This stuff is actually Saccharine, which was invented as an ant killer, but was found to be many times sweeter than sugar (and much cheaper) so it was sold as an artificial sweetener. Ants love it, so sprinkle around and they will carry it away (and never come back).

We found ants sometimes at home, but we have to see where does it come from. Should we found we just pour with hot water and it would stop coming out. That's for red ants but for the black ones we just leave it and they would just disappear after a day or two. Others say having black ants means money coming your way so you don't have to drive them out. Though maybe ants invading your home is a different case, maybe you really need to spray the right anti ants ingredient. Wish you luck.

Thank you, Bing. I can't believe I spent over $100 on an exterminator and it didn't work!

My dad is really great in handling those pest inside our home. basing from my observations on his actions, I could that to get rid of them you have to trace its home or their target. Go underneath their tiny brains. Like for example in ours, my dad realized that we get to have ants if we put food at the top of our table, so what we did we really discourage food on top of the table when we are not eating them. We also try not to eat anywhere in our house and just eat in our dining table. Since we have a dirty kitchen, we only store foods in their and try to keep it clean everyday as possible.
I guess, you just have to clean things.

I try to keep things as clean as possible, as well, but those little bugs just are not leaving! I am putting out ant bait and hoping that works. The exterminator certainly was not worth the money he's charging me!

It seems that at certain times of the year little ants like that will invade my house as well. Lately I've been noticing them in my bathroom, which is weird because there's no food at all in there. Usually, they'll come into the kitchen all on the countertops and sometimes the sink. (Not tons or a gross infestation, just a little trail of them that won't go away).
My parents use something to try and get rid of them, I don't know what it is. It's like blue gel and they take about a dime size of it and put it on a piece of a paper plate and leave it where the ants seem to go the most. They supposedly take the blue stuff back to where they live and it kills the hole colony. I've never had an exterminator, we just use that stuff and they'll eventually go away.

My friend has a recipe that she swears by but it calls for boric acid, which I had to order at the store as it isn't easy to find anymore. They used to carry it everywhere and when I was a child we used it for canker sores. In the meantime I bought some ant baits and will put them out in hopes of it working. If you'd like to try my friend's recipe, let me know and I will PM it to you. Peace!
