yes i am back at mylot and i am back at sharing what is going on.. well, i do not know where to start now well last week Juanzen got sick, doc said it is another strain of dengue, the second one and he said there are 4 strains of it so i better be careful. Well i will be, as my son has very weak immune system. His hemoglobin was very low and got no choice but to confine him...we did confine him last April 2, in the afternoon. I took him to the pedia and it was what he suggested and my son was given two bags of plasma and whole blood.. he is type B+ by the way. But glad he recovered right away and we were able to discharge by the morning of april 4 and glad we did as it was his birthday! It is sad to think we greeted him there and he blew candles there.. but we made a little effort, me and hubby were the ones who blew the balloons lol and i was very careful as one balloon popped and the hospital room was sooo quiet i knew the other patients heard it..they might panic or something but after all the pain of watching him, i am glad he smiled when he saw the balloons and glad that the is happy. the hospital admin even gave him a cake!

I look at the picture, he is so cute. I hope that your son will get well soon. Although I am not familiar with those symptoms your son has, I am sure that hospital will treat him well, and he will be okay after all. So, take good care of him, and let him be happy.

Hospitals really do try to help children when they have to stay there. I am glad he could smile for his birthday. You know, I really seem to learn a lot from others on MyLot. I am not really familiar with dengue at all. It sounds pretty frightening.

I am learning more and more. I donate blood regularly, and was giving red blood cells, but now I give platelets.

i admire you, i admire people who donate blood, sometimes there are people here who needs more and people are donating less which is sad.. good thing my hubby knows some people who helped him have the blood immediately.

Oh it's really sad when someone gets hospitalized, more so if that someone is a little kid. I think there's something wrong here if he got it the second time around. I think you should secure your premises and be rid of mosquitos. Here is my area, we usually let the person with denge drink lots of tawa-tawa boiled water and eat durian. It helps make the person recover quickly. Try checking the 'homes' of these mosquitoes and be rid of them by smoking your house and making sure there are no stagnant water. Consider too where your kid goes so that he won't get infected anymore. Poor kid with all those blood tests and pricking. Hope everything is better and you wouldn't need to go through that again. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

i was thinking of that, where the mosquitoes are but it annoys me as i keep on cleaning our house, so i do not think it is from there....it must be from other places, maybe our neighbors? we are making sure now of making his immune system strong. I tried letting him drink tawa tawa, but no use as my son is such a picky person, he can really taste it and does not like it at all...you know how kids are! But doc said vanilla is good so i let him have vanilla ice cream as much as he like!

Perhaps you could talk to your neighborhood so that you and your neighbors could get rid of those mosquitoes. I doubt they'd want their kids to suffer like your kid did. It's always a team effort to get rid of these things. There's no sense cleaning your house down the last dust if your neighbors are the breeding ground.

Cake for dear Juanzen - Happy Birthday Dear... you know you have a special person in your life - your mom who is so very caring and loving
Hi jazel I love to read good news about my friends and their family... This discussion has so many of them After many a days, it makes me happy to read that the people at the hospital have a heart too (when you write that they had a cake for dear Juanzen). Normally these people seem so heartless... It is great to know that Juanzen is back home, and I am sure you would take good care of him for some months to come as you do mention his weak immune system and also the fact that the dengue is keeping coming back. Hmmm... it is late no doubt, but I wish him a Happy Birthday, and a Great Health. How about a small cake from me...

Thank you sids for the cake ( wish that was real as i am hungry right now lol) But really thank you, yes the nurses were so good for him, there was a time when the IV wasn't flowing right, the IV for the blood, it stops frequently and not flowing well, there were patient enough to keep coming back..as we were also keep on calling them, that was the time when we barely slept. Though i fell asleep around 3am..and it was hubby who really was awake most of the time... We are keeping a watch on him right now as it might come back again said the doctor but there are more vitamins for him so his immune system will get stronger.

Belated happy birthday to your son. The worst thing i had to go through my entire life was when my son was hospitalized twice successively. It was heartbreaking to see my barely two year old then suffering. The weird thing was it wasn't dengue at all and the doctors didn't know what kind of disease he acquired. It was a few years later that we discovered he had the symptoms of kawazaki disease then. It was deadly but he survived. I was traumatized then and every time he gets sick i just get too worried. Good health to you and your family.

wow, i do learn new things here..what is kawazaki disease? i will look it up. As a parent, that is our biggest nightmare..everytime they do get sick i also get so worried and at times i get so over protective but i cannot help it.

Thank goodness that your son is now fine. Yes, we parent will do whatever we can to make our children happy and comfortable even during the times when they are sick. Nothing really beats the love of parents to their children.
