So Quiet I Actually Took a Nap!

I think it was fairly quiet earlier even with the TV on for a short time, as I actually took a short nap! That almost never happens but I haven't been feeling well and have lost alot of sleep so it was a refreshing nap even if it was only less than a half hour. It is so nice to have some quiet. Tomorrow I will have alot of quietness as I will be the only one here for at least a few hours. I kind of want that, but kind of don't too cause I'm alittle anxious about some of my health problems right now and don't want to be totally along for long periods. Do you like to be along when you are sick or do you love company more at those times? Do you ever take naps during the day?

I just love to get time to myself to do my own thing. I like it when it's quiet - when there's just me and two cats sleeping on the rug. I can watch TV, get on with a bit of writing - and just chill.
Even though I've got health problems myself, I don't feel the need to be pampered all the time. My husband pampers me like mad - and much as I enjoy it, sometimes I think "Enough's enough!" and I just want to be by myself.
In response to your question about napping - I'm not a napper! When I go to sleep, I stay asleep for HOURS!! Wish I could power-nap. They say it's good for stress.

I hear ya, too much of a good thing can be irritating just as to little can be. I understand totally. It's not that we don't want to be pampered, it's the over doing of it that makes it seem like it drives you nuts. I don't wanna be pampered all the time either, thats just not me. I'm not used to it, in fact, LOL. But I wouldn't complain if it happened. I'm like you, I'm not a napper either and would rather stay asleep for hours rather than take naps, we're alot alike. It's not like I could even nap much if I tried. This one time was rare for me.

I don't normally agree with sleeping during the day as it tends to mean that I won't be able to sleep that night. However, I do find that when I am bored and nobody else is at home, I do end up having a small sleep when I don't really mean to. You should try and find something else to do rather than sleep. When I have nothing to do, I try to go for a short walk and that wakes me up. Or, I will find a new book to read for a couple of hours before there is something better that I need to do rather than being bored.

Yea, I have often heard that, but my lack of sleep at night has been an issue with me lately anyways even with not sleeping during the day.I should try that when i can't sleep, but not walking, around here it's not as safe anymore for walking at night, unfortunately. And if I walk around the house, put the computer on, etc it wakes the others up, etc.

I like peace and quiet. I take an occasional nap when my sleep schedule deems it necessary. I have sleep problems and go through different sleep times. I do like to hear the rest of the family roaming around the house. I don't care for alot of noise. That is changing with the weather. My grandson is having friends over and some are so noisy.

It is amazing to me how people who live in a family unit can be so uncaring and selfish. Noisy and disruptive. Fatigue and lack of sleep is a real health hazzard but most people really do not take it seriously. Until its too late.

Yea, I know what you mean. Selfish is my family biggest flaw. I can still remember how when I was so scared that I had a lump under my arm and thought it was cancer that I called my mom home from a visit with her sister. The next day or that night ( I can't remember now) it was gone and I told her. I only remember her reaction being that she was kind of mad that I called her back from the visit and not even mentioning the fact she was so happy the lump vanished. So I don't even know if she was truly happy about it. This is the way my mom rolls, just really cold and uncaring. Another time I had asked her to lower her TV when I had to take a medication the first day for my Colitis and it gave me a super migraine, and she acted like she was mad about that too. I just don't think she was ever really that motherly, not sure why she even wanted kids. My dad didn't want any I know, but she did. You'd think someone who wanted kids would react more caring toward their kid. Then she wonders why I feel like I do. DUH.

I like peace and quite too Celtic, always have. I don't like to hear the family roaming through the house, as I'm a very light sleeper and it wakes me up most of the time. Today I didn't hear any coughing from the brother when he woke up on the couch here, he must have taken a cough drop or something. Wish he'd be that quiet every morning--- and night too.

How's your condition now? I hope you're recovering well. Take some rest now. I'd prefer to be alone when I'm sick so I can rest. I take naps if I have free time.

The body require time to rest in order to work properly later. The mind in particular cannot work well without resting. I do take a nap which works well for me because later I am as good as new. Taking a nap at the right time is a factor to consider. When unhealthy, you need more rest than work.

I've been taking naps of late. But I think that it is because of the pain I've been in. The pain has kind of decreased (until today when I broke my big toe) and I am feeling more chipper.
I do better being alone when I'm sick. I don't want people bugging me and checking on me constantly. My boyfriend, who lives a couple of doors away, will come in in the morning, afternoon and evening to check on me but he doesn't hover so I get peaceful sleep.
There has been only one time when I wanted someone with me when I was sick. I was living in Montana and during Spring Break I got the measles. I was sooooo sick I couldn't move from the couch. I had a four year old daughter and needed someone to help. My boyfriend then didn't come near the house. It was up to my daughter and myself. My daughter would get her breakfast and would fix a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. I would literally crawl into the kitchen to fix my daughter's dinner. I would get everything ready and on the dinner plate and she would sit at the coffee table to eat dinner. She was really great because not only did she take care of herself and make sure she went to bed, but she also helped me by bringing me water and tea and whatever else I needed. Even now, 30 years later I am still so proud of my daughter for being such a grown up during that time! I made sure that I rewarded her big time for that, right after I dumped the no good boyfriend who didn't give a darn about me.

I'm so sorry you broke your big toe. I did something to that effect last February and my toenail is still purple although the pain has ceased for awhile now, thank goodness. I'm glad you're not the type to bug everyone when sick but sometimes it is nice to have some help around too. I'm happy you have a boyfriend to check on you so often, thats the best kind of hovering, not overdone. He seems like a keeper.
Oh the Measles sounds painful and I don't blame you for wanting someone with you when having that. Thank goodness your daughter could fix a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for herself for lunch and also make her breakfast.
I am sure happy you dumped that other loser boyfriend too that never helped you and that you did rewarded her. She sounded like an awesome daughter and still is. Great way of raising her, what ever you did, it worked!

It is more common to take short naps during day times and may be during other times also. Short naps generally gives a recharge feeling and it was scientifically proved that short naps are healthy in nature and nothing to worry about. A company during that naps is not at all necessary because it is sole action and sole satisfaction.

Thanks for the response, I am trying not to worry. Something else just came up and it lands on the day I go for the consultation for the cyst I have in May. The "fun" never ends, argh. Sorry it took me so long to respond back, life has been crazy!

I often take a nap after my lunch. It is the good way to keep me awake in whole afternoon. I think take a nap is very very good, especially at noon, then your body can be restored for a while...if not, you may feel tired in the afternoon because of a long day of work.

I usually take naps in the afternoon when I have a rest day at work during weekends. Afternoon is the best time because it's when you have nothing to do and the heat in the afternoon makes you feel sleepy. I normally fall asleep while watching TV, lying on the couch.

Hi NailTech, sorry you are not feeling well, but i do know the feeling
I have been feeling poorly for the last 4 days and it hasn't
been good at all..I uunderstand there is smething going around and lots
of people are feeling bad...and frankly speaking that the only time I
can nap during the day is when am sick...once I see daylight I am
surely up for the day, even if I lay down I till can't go back to sleep.
I don't mind being along either, as long as someone knows I am not well
and calls every so often to check on me....I am fine with that...

Well, for me it's not just something going around sorry to say. I need an operation, as in surgery which I'm not looking forward to. But if it will help make me well again then all the power to it I guess. I have no other choice. I was even suggesting that someone check on me too, as they said they might be longer than usual at the place they will be other than here.

I know that when I'm sick, I do not like company. Because I am not ever 'good' company when I am sick, I am usually also crabby as a result. I guess if it were something major I wouldn't want to be alone, just in case something were to happen... Anyway. Best of luck with your health problems. And congrats on a nap!

Thanks, I thought it was a really good accomplishment as I have not been able to do any napping for the longest time, I can't remember when the last time was when I napped, it must have been at least a few years! I'm not having a major health problem, I hope, but it is kind of scary for me, I have to have surgery but it has to wait at least a month yet due to lack of insurance. Hopefully nothing will happen to me in between that time.

Yes, I usually take short naps during the day, especially after lunch before I go back to my work. It's good for our health, it enables us to give our mind, and our eyes, some rests.
