Why is that many are confused if what course they will get for college? I sometimes find it hard choosing if you will all accept other's suggestions. In choosing my course, i follow what is my interest. My parents suggest courses to me and sometimes they made me persuade to enrol it. However, it is hard for me to give up my own choice so i just rejected them. In college, there is no hard course if you truly accept, love , and you are interested in your course. Maybe others still get it hard because they choose what they want but do not fit their qualifications. Qualifications is very much important in choosing a college course. Maybe , before enrolling, we should try to have a background check on what we are doing and entering. :)

I can still remember before I got to college. I was frequently asked what course I will choose once I graduate high school. I can still also remembering saying "I don't know". The reason was because I never really want to be going through the same fate with others. What I mean to say is, after we graduate, we usually go looking for a job...which kinda discourages me very much.
I guess "I never really want to be in the same spot as my other classmates will have in the future" was my thought. And when I was about to enroll to a college, I just closed my eyes and asked myself what are those hobbies that I wish to do everyday and what are those skills that I have that I can use to monetize. From then on, I started to look for courses that matches what I discovered for myself. And here I am, an Information Technology student who wishes to finally stop and focus on making money instead. Really, being an employee is not for me.

I see. I wish you well and good luck. I also hope that you last long and is still in one piece after the whole ordeal of college. You see, I couldn't last for more than 5 months of stress and work. lol. I get sick in the middle of it all. I blame it on frail health. So you better stay healthy. It's one of the factors that will allow you to enjoy your everyday life in college. As I said, a future of working for someone else is not for me. It's either I'm the boss or I'm unemployed.
Whatever path you wish to take, make sure that the decision and action you make are completely according to your will so that you won't have regrets and that you won't have someone else to blame for whatever may happen to you in the future.
Have a nice day and Happy MyLotting!

When I was about to enter college, I really choose the course I wanted. My parents also have choice on what I am going to take but they let me choose want I really want.
Trully that there are some college students struggling in their course because it doesn't fit for them. They are not happy because they are not the one who choose it. It not their parents, they are just influenced by others.
You are right that you need to follow your heart, but you need to check first the qualifications if you will be fit for that course. Before I finally took my course, I tried to check all the subjects needed not only chosen course but to others also, since there are some acquaintances that trying to influence me to chose the same course they have. Finally, I took y first choice course and I am happy on it.

When I started college the first set of courses I took was not for me, it was not what I wanted, so I changed courses. I wanted to do something that made me happy. When choosing a school and a set of courses, student should look at the things that make them happy. A course that they truely want to take instead of what someone else wants them to take.

We must really think bout the factors on entering college and choosing a course. Having recommendations from others is not bad but our own choice will still be the best. However, there are indeed students that choose course for college because they will have fun in it, they have the heart for it but they don't know that that course is not really capable for their knowledge so they need to really work hard for the course making them having to much burden. So we still need reviews about the course that we are planning to take.

In my case, I didn't have any problem in choosing my collegiate course because I was determined to be an engineer or to be a medical technologist. However, things get difficult as I my uncle intruded my decision with my mom. He persuaded my mom to not let me enroll these two options I have and become a teacher instead. I don't like to be a teacher because most of my uncle and auntie are in teaching field. Though there are anticipated advantages if I become one of them but for me it won't be any kind of favor. But at the end ,I have to because he already persuaded my mom. Things turn to his favor.

Actually that is the worst thing that may happen if there are other recommendations from others most especially if the person that will finance your studies will gave a recommendation. Most of the time, the financer of your studies is the one who truly decide what to take for college.

Doing something that you don't like for a long time is one way to like it. However, I might say that I believe in destiny. There are really times that we dreamed of something impossible for us to reach because of our environment, however if we are truly destined to reach our dream, time will still come. In addition, even though you never dreamed of something that you have now, destiny is the main cause of it. Haha.

There are a lot of factors in choosing a course. But that's not the only problem, you have also to choose where you would be studying. Doing background checking and visiting different colleges will help you choose a better university. And for me, before entering college I considered the following factors in choosing my course.
1. A course that I want
2. A course that fits my qualifications
3. financial matters, could I afford the education?
4. A course that I can benefit and help me find the best job in the future
5. Suggestions of my parents
I considered all of these things in making my final decision. Hope this helps you. Happy mylotting!

Agreeing with you is the best thing. We must remember the factors before choosing the course for college. The factors that you stated are really the most important of all.

There is nothing to be confused about choosing courses in college. Ones interests and the subjects you passed well back in high school should help in career choices. Our parents are there to help us make the best choices but remember the career you take is yours to pursue alone. They can only help you celebrate once you get there.

Apart from interest another issue people consider when enroling for courses is the job availability , parents sometimes think about the prestige attached to the courses in question. i believe all this factors should come into consideration when choosing a course of study

(Sorry, this is going to be long. It's sort of a story)
Hello! :) Actually, I just graduated highschool about 3 weeks ago and am very excited to go to college.
When it was time to file my UPCAT application (sa UP. Pinoy ako :)) I didn't really know what to do. Senior year just started and, being the lazy isko that I am, I didn't go to the guidance counselor for any help about my course (which was okay because my batchmates said she wasn't of any help anyway) so I didn't know what all of the courses were and what the job prospects are. I listed ComSci as my first choice in Diliman (it being a quota course) and a bunch of random courses that I can't remember as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
Computer Science has always been in my heart. It may not be my first love but since PhilSci requires that I take a science course it instantly became my go to course in all of my applications (actually, I only applied for UP and Ateneo because I was too LAZY to fill up other application forms, gosh).
A few weeks into senior year we got to choose our electives and I chose Micro-controllers and it made me realize that I did not just love the software side of technology, I also sort of enjoyed the hardware: all the circuitry, the soldering, assembling, and materializing parts of the project. And then later on I found out that there was this course : ECE that dealt with both hardware and software. Internally, I know that my love for hardware will never equal my love for software but I love a challenge. And once I get interested in something it becomes my top priority.
But I've already passed my applications and I chose a dual degree (BS Physics and BS AppliedComputer Systems) for my Ateneo app.
Anyway, I got into both. But the thing is... I didn't know what I really wanted. We're teenagers, we find out new things about ourselves every day, new loves, new interests. And we know nothing about college.
It is very possible to be interested in your course one day and then realize that it isn't for you the next.
College is a new chapter, a new challenge for us and we definitely want to start it right.

College life is by far so different from High School. When you choose a course, it is like choosing what career you believe best suits you. College is a preparation for work. Most of the things you will learn at College, you will apply that when you will work.Or if you choose to be self-employed and start your own business. There are also College degrees that can best equip you in your preparation for that kind of career. Like management or business courses.
When choosing a course, it is very important that it is your choice. Your parents can make suggestions, strongly or passively, but in the end it should be your choice and not theirs. It is your life so it is best that you decide what's best for you.
I'm not saying that you do not listen to your parents or to other people. I'm not saying that you should choose a course that you love and when people say something bad about your choice, you shut them off. What I'm saying is that you weight your options. If you really love a course and someone important to you will say that you're not fit for it because you lack the mental capacity, then try to think about what has been said. Maybe they are right. Maybe your choice of course is way beyond your IQ.
In the end, your choice of course in College will greatly affect your life. So choose wisely and choose well. Gather all information before you decide. Solicit all ideas before you push through with it. Because College will great influence how your life will turn out to be.
