What about the salad?

I don't like salads. I don't things I like and some I don't in a clump together. I like most vegetables but really like them seperate. And I am not big on lettuce because usually, unless I fix it myself, it is alot of the white part which is rather bitter and nasty tasting. Ot it is wilted. I do like the ornamental types. I love nice, ripe and sweet tomatoes, fully ripe avacadoes and cucumbers all cut in cubes with some italian dressing or home made vinegrette. How are you on salads?

I like salads, but there are a few veggies that I leave out if I can. I don't like lettuce, unless it's fresh, but it's usually old and bitter. Lol, I'm glad I'm not alone with being choosy about the lettuce. I don't like the yellow thin bell peppers either that grow in our country, they are good for cooking but not very chewable when raw. I like everything else in a salad, especially tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, spinach. With a nice dressing And fruit salads!

I agree. When I make a salad for others I am very careful to pick out the white and wilted parts. They are bitter and discusting. I like a good green pepper. I like spinach mixed with the more ornate lettuces. And fruit salad with yogurt for the dressing is interesting.

Your salad , almond , sounds good with the spinach and the tomatoes , cucumbers & corn. The good thing about the salad is that you can cut and chop it as much as you want and it gets easier to chew it. You enjoy the benefit of the combination of the different vegetables. Use 5 different colours of vegetables. Have a nice mylotting.

@ Celticeagle: I have more success with the red and curly lettuces, but they are only seldom available. @ Stringer: salads from 5 different colors of vegetables sound beautiful and tasty! I heard that it's best to use a combination 3 or 5 types of veggies, I'm also trying to keep myself to that.

I like salads. I love the lettuce, tomato, cucumber, bell peppers tossed with vinegar-vegetable oil mixture, topped with grated cheese. I also love using catsup-mayo mixture as dressing. Aside from veggie salad, I love fruit salad and macaroni salad.

I will eat a regular dinner salad, but it is not my favorite. I will buy bags of romaine leaves, which are dark and light green. I like spinach instead of lettuce. I love tomatoes, onions, cucumber, avocado, broccoli, raisins, sunflower kernels, nuts, etc. I also like things like bean salad.

I think salads are a essential part of our food, And I like them too, I recommend all of you to eat them, Salad consists of almost all those important vegetables that we eat with other type of foods, but they are boiled in water with tends to wash off all its proteins,and thus, leaving very few for consuming, but while consuming salads they are raw, and also help/benefit us more than consuming them after boiled. I like them with just salt and pepper and at times chat masala , they really taste yummy. I think all of you must try it.

You are so right , Sujit ! The salad gives some benefit of the mix of its different vegetables , our body needs vegetables from all of the colours : red , yellow , white , green and purple and maybe more... I like salad with : nuts , tomatoes , pines (pines are white seeds from a pine tree that are tasty ) , cucumbers , lemon , onion , colorabi , carrot , radish , beet , bell peper , some olive oil to improve lycopene absorption. I also like lettuce , baby leaves , and mint. I use a special instrument that helps me to cut all of the vegetables with some pressure on it. It has a blade net so the vegetables are being cut to small cubes.

I really like salads. I enjoy different types of greens: fancy lettuces, spinach, mixed greens, kale, swiss chard, red leaf, green leaf, and romaine. All types of vegetables: cucumber, green onion, carrot, bell/sweet peppers , banana peppers, radishes, bean sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, endive, arugula, ect. Fruits too - especially during the spring and summer when berries & peaches are fresh. I'm not big on toppings like salad dressing, but I do enjoy adding nuts & seeds to my salad. For dinner I tried to eat a red oak lettuce, kale, romaine lettuce, cucumber, sweet mini pepper, carrot cilantro and green onion salad w/blue cheese dressing. I left it on the table next to my 2 year old, went to get a drink and she stole my salad. Now I'm hungry lol I just wish it wasn't 1am!

I like salad better as an accompaniment to hot food (such as meatballs, steak or chicken) than as a cold meal. I used to hate salad until I began to eat it with hot food and I now quite like it.

I love green salad but it has to be very fresh and crisp. I cannot stand when it is soft and wilted. I Love, love dandelion greens in my salad. Yes they are bitter but I love them anyway..he he he. They are my favorite part of spring! I am partial to vinaigrette usually a greek variation I make myself or a mustard type. I do not like boiled eggs, fruit, or nuts in my salad. Seeds are are ok as is cheese but then the cheese isn't so healthy for you is it?
@celticeagle (166761)

Definitely has to be crisp. I don't think I have ever had dandelion greens. I might like the mustard type vinaigrette. Even the greek. They seem to have it going on. I do like a boiled egg with my salad. And nuts on some like sunflower seeds or caSHews on one salad my daughter makes is good. Cheese is protein and there are some less caloric cheeses.

I like salads a lot but I need the lettuce to be very fresh and cold. I also make the cubed tomato, cucumber and avacado salad that you mention rather often. I also do it with a little bit of mayo and lemon pepper seasoning. Yum. In the summer I tend to always have those 3 ingredients on hand and it is quick to make.

Ya, I can't stand the salads that are served when I am eating out. The brown and white lettuce they serve is discusting. I don't care for lettuce and am very particular as to what part of the wedge I will eat. The white is bitter so you need even more dressing to cover it up. I cut up the vegetables and eat them seperately with dressing on the side. Gotta love the salad bar. And i saw that my favorite fruit stand has avacodos for 2 for a $l so I will be getting some of those.

hi dear celticeagle I am a big fan of salads and cant wait till the warmer weather is here and we will enjoy much more of these. I love iceberg lettuce in particular and we make a nice mixed salad with lettuce, lots of onions, tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers and sometimes a small can of corn or mushrooms added. No dressing as the tomatoes and cucumber are juicy enough to make a great dressing.......
