A news article said that our university is one of the schools that will have at least 6 percent tuition increase- and our school decided to increase tuition by 10 %. many students can barely pay the tuition on time and they add this much to the tuition.. They should also think about the students-since without us they won't be able to fund anything, and they are a Catholic school too.

Yes, I saw that in the news too- hundreds of schools are going to have higher tuition this coming semester. They say it's for the higher salary of the teachers, i hope their teaching becomes better too .

That's really unfortunate. Education's becoming more expensive these days. This is why there are so many students turning to public schools since they are for free. But as the students increase there, the quality of education decreases. There are too many students in one classroom. I saw a documentary during the Lenten Season and there was a school featured where two classes shared one room with only the blackboard as their divider. And there's another one where a classroom is shared by at least three grade levels. I really wonder if our country will be able to progress with this kind of situation.

Yeah sadly it does seem like everything is pretty much going off. The rates for many schools were high and I am just glad I'm done, with my loans paid off and absolutely free, square. It is really the ultimate double edge sword. Fewer people are going to afford to school, so they have to cover their losses in some manner to avoid losing out on much. But the problem comes when more people decide not to enroll because of the skyrocketing costs. So more people decide to not learn and thus the tuition need to be hiked up again. That is a bad thing about this economy, how everything escalates in a seemingly never ending cycle. It makes business sense in a way. But in another way, it is bad for business.

I would like to agree with you but you also have to think that a school, no matter what kind or affiliation it has - is a business. it doesn't live on charity, although I think most parents and students will like it to be so. As a business, schools have many costs like wages, maintenance and infrastructure. However, it doesn't mean that they have to raise the tuition fee without justification or notice to its students and their parents. If they do increase, it better to scrutinize the reasons for doing so. If want to know, call up the school or inquire at the agency who handles the education department. If you think you can't really afford the school, it's better to scout for other schools.
