Will Little Havana ever forgive Ozzie?

The new manager of the Miami Marlins , a baseball team with a new stadium in Little Havana, was reported saying he Loved Castro. What?! He has been suspended 5 games without pay and he did a press conference to apologize. But there were protesters outside the stadium! Can this be resolved? Or will the Marlins have to fire Ozzie? I don't know. All I do know is there are many who will Never forgive or forget what Ozzie said.I am not Cuban but I am Jewish so I equate this to a person saying they love Hitler.once a person says that, I see them as a Nazi, period! Nothing they say or do can take it back. This is the Last thing the Marlins needed.Do you think there will be enough fans to come to the park that Ozzie will keep his job? Or will Ozzie be fired?

I thought this was america where we have the freedom of speech. Wow. Look, I think comparing Hitler to Castro is like apples and oranges. Hitler was a sick demented human being. Something snapped in him and he went mad. Castro I doubt was anywhere as bad as hitler. And besides, the United States government wants us to believe that Cuba is real evil. Just because they cleaned house in the 80's and sent all their prisoners here, does not mean Cuba was bad. I know lots of people here in america that would love to get out and find a better country to live in. Now, look at it this way, lets say Hitler was still the president of Germany, and you came from germany and settled here. Now, keep this in mind, Germany would still be your home country and you would always have a certain feeling about that. I am not sure if Ozzie came from there, but if he did, maybe that's why he said what he said. Me personally, I really don't care, it does not affect me at all. Now, here is something else, what if someone said they hate the president of the united states? Wouldn't that be the same thing, shouldn't they be suspended? And believe me, many people expressed how they hate the president. Even politicians themselves. So shouldn't they be punished for that? That's how I see it.

There is a difference between saying you hate the President and saying he is Hitler. In fact Hank Williams Jr did lose his job for equating Obama to Hitler. He was erased from the Monday Night Football spot he had for more than 20 years. If Hitler was Still in power in Germany, and I was one of the lucky ones to escape, I would hate Anyone who said they loved Hitler. to me he is the reason I can't go home. and to me Anyone who says that will Never get any more of my money. It does not matter How evil castro is. It is not a contest. The main thing is Castro is the reason many Cuban Americans have a empty place at their dinner table. To them He is Evil period! Ozzie is from Venezuela. At his home he has a dictator. He Sould have known better. The stadium is in Little Havana. For him to say this is a punch in the gut to many, many people. So if the Marlins Want their new neighbors to spend their money in this new stadium, Ozzie will have to go. The suits don't see that now , but they will in time. Yes America is the land free speech . They just don't tell you that once you say something that shows how stupid or insensitive or racist you are , there ias a price to be paid.

But these days you can say the wrong thing and either lose an endorsement deal or get beat up. Me, I was never called any of the names. I believe the words people use say more about the person using them. I agree with you an a$$hole is an a$4hole regardless of color!

Well, the way it is today in this world is everything became way to politically correct. Do you realize that if All in the Family were a new show today, it would never make it on the air. Because by today's standards, that show would be way to off color. There are other shows we grew up with that would never make it on TV today as a first run TV show.

It’s is a difficult thing for this kind of people to forgive each other. I have coaches been fired and players being sold just because of such acts. It would not come to me as a surprise to see Ooze fired but I wish people would be more realistic on certain issues.

It is real their feelings . And all they have to do is vote with their feet. I mean if they think the Miami Marlins Agree with Ozzie and they stay away, then either you will have a audience of one hue , which they May want in the first place, or Ozzie will have to go. But then again, It is Miami. There are so many things you can go besides pay money to see a baseball game! And all you need is for most Cubans to assume this establishment supports Castro , they will stick to soccer. And sadly many will Never see a game after Ozzie words. The damage is done.

What surprises me is that we found out he said he admired Castro back in 2008, when he was with the White Sox, and no one said a thing. It took him going to a large Latino community before anyone really paid attention to his words. I thought he should have gotten ten games. His ignorance is really nonexcusable.

Up in Chicago they can anger the Latin American community and Still have a sold out stadium, But Florida? Miami Moved to Little Havana To court the Latin American fan. Let's face it. In the Spring in Chicago, baseball is on the top of the list of things you do . The weather Finally is better and you can go out. But in Florida? Why go see baseball if you have the beach , sand, And South Beach? Now Ozzie has made it plain that the Marlins don't care about Cuban-Americans so they won't come. So instead of having all the locals walking over to the club, there will be fans driving in. I just hope they don't tear down buildings for parking lots. But the Again , it is the Marlins, not the Braves. They will still have trouble filling the stadium.

It's interesting when sports personalities express their views. Although it may add to the 'color' of their personalities, some are indeed better off shutting their mouths. I don't blame Ozzie for liking Castro. That's his view and he is entitled to it. But the one thing he should have thought of before blurting out his opinions was the position he was in. And the responsibilities his position entails. He has an obligation to the team, and the community that the team represent. I hope he starts winning a lot of games, for his own sake.

And I was thinking that there was a freedom of speech in your country. I am not sure that your equation is correct : Castro is a dictator, but is not Hitler. What this man loves or not here has nothing to do with baseball. A good sportsman has always a place in a team, and should better only make public comments about sport.

Castro= Hitler to the Cuban- Americans that have family members killed by him. For those who got on a raft and risked their lives to make it to Florida. He is just as evil to them as Hitler is to the world. As for freedom of speech, this is what it really means. You have the right to say Anything you want . But that does not mean many , many people can't exercise their right and denounce you. I do agree Ozzie is an Manager from Venezuela, not Cuba. He shouldn't have tried to say Anything about Castro, he should have stuck with baseball.

It all depends on how many Cuban Americans picket each home game and how many non Cuban Americans feel uncomfortable walking through the protesters to get to the game.Money talks. The Marlins were/are trying to build a local fan base. The stadium is in Little Havana! It would be sad if only non Little Havana people go to the game. But that Could happen.
