when the earthquake happened i had just woken up sleep and was praying in the second i feel the earth tremble, i canceled prayer just two cycles, screaming and asking children to go out of the house, i may prayer clotes come out holding the children and feel the earth shake for afew moment just like in 2004. rak plate sauted indicates the earhthquake has not stop.smal children craying and parents fear, after the saking stops i see alot of street a heading in one direction.namley a rather high mountain area.but an announcement from the mosque that it's safe but only for a moment the earthquake shook again everyone running out and panic again, i prepared motorcycle for fear of an earthquake caused at tsunami. with maychildren i raced towared the village and stay until returning monday , there was one of two thermo thay was feel in the secend week of account after the earthquake , but until recently the condition was safe, but the news story of earthquake will continu troght sms but i believe only god know an erquake occures becouse up to now this prediction of earthquake has never been the right one.

Hi youless, yesterday when I's lying on my lazy chair trying to have a nap around four to five pm. I felt a slight sway of my chair. I thought I was too exhausted to have such weird feeling It happened several times. I then thought it might be earthquake but I couldn't see any sign like the swaying of the ceiling light or the shaking water in the bottle. I never bothered about it for our country is not located in earthquake zone. I then fell into sound sleep.
Later, in the evening my son called me and told me that there's earth quack in Indonesia. I was asked whether there's any sign of earth shake today. After listening to my story he told me many people in his places did experience the swag in exactly the same moment. But the situation there were a bit severe Indonesia is our neighbor country and Sumatra, the earthquake site is less than a thousand kilometers from our place, no wonder we could feel the swag. The island where my son working is nearer. I was told not to visit the seaside for there might be tsunami after four hours or so in the evening. Fortunate that there wasn't any undesirable disaster happening at the seaside like what was forecast.
Happy posting

I also just read about the news online. I'm not from Indonesia but I do hope everyone is well there especially near Aceh. All tsunami warnings have been lifted and they are now assessing the damages caused by the earthquake and the aftershocks. I hope everyone will remain safe and secure. Take care!

What's the matter with the earth? I dread to think of what may happen there. 8.6 magnitude is about equal to that broken out in Wenchuan in China. My thoughts go out to the people there.

Thanks for the prayers! :)
I am from Indonesia and at Medan. I was in the office at 9th floor when the earthquake happened. It said that it was signed for Tsunami at Aceh. I wish everything will be alright. Wish there's nothing like tsunami happened again at Aceh.
God bless us all!

It is shocking indeed, there had been many earthquakes this year and the past.. That is a really strong earthquake even in Japan it was more or less 7.. Let us just hope no tsunami will come and if ever there is, that no one will get hurt.

I read this morning that the tectonic plates slid horizontally to cause this earthquake and so a tsunami was unlikely. The terrible quake of a few years back was a vertical shift of the sea bed which caused the terrible tsunami and tragic loss of life.

i was totally without tv, radio and internet yesterday - it was a public holiday here and we were all at home) - that i didnt know about the earthquake until this morning - at the office.. some of us felt the tremors as well because Aceh/Sumatera is very near to us.. A friend whose daughter stays in a boarding school which is very near to the seaside, felt very strong tremors - became very, very scared of tsunami and phoned my friend in tears - poor girl.. i am just relieved that we havent heard any devasting news related the earthquake so far...
here are some links from our local dailys on the earthquake..
