Hubby and I took the children swimming today, to a lovely warm pool, had a wave machine which went off every thirty minuites, a hot tub and two lovley big slides to go down as well. We had a lovely time as a family. Do you have a posh swimming pool near you that you can go swimming in? Only problem with these pools is that you can't do any serious swimming as the pools aren't a regular shape so you can't swim lenghts etc. so it was just a BIG FUN session which was great.

Wolf lodge is in driving distance of us and they too have pools and wave machines and what not. I personally do not go in them as I am highly allergic to chlorine. I have what is similar to an asthma attack when I am in a concealed room of a pool that has a lot of chlorine in it. The fumes alone make me sick none to mind what happens when I ingest it or swim in it. Needless to say we have heavy duty filters on our water in the house. I wish I could go in them though. Hubby and kids look like they have so much fun in them. We do, in the summer spend a lot of time swimming int he creek, river lakes and ponds of the area as well as going tot he beach which is my favorite place.

Sorry you can't go into the swimming pools. When you say Creek, it always reminds me of Laura and her freinds swimming in the creek in Little House. I really wanted and still do want ot live in the Little House, I know the times were hard and it has been made not so real for the telly but I still want ot live there

Yeah I love those books! We both love the outdoors and dream of having a lot of land to live on as independent as almost everyone was back then of others..

Thank you so much. We hope to take the children to the fair park before they go back to school as another treat. The beach is about 40 miles from our house. I wouldn't mind living by the beach and sea

Well , I was in that kind of swimming pool many years ago. It's nice when the waves can help me jump high and float up and down. It feels like ummmm...floating , having low mass. :) That kind of swimming pool is probabely for fun for kids. If waves starts in a regular swimming pool , it will interupt the regular swimmers that are doing their swimming exersice , having waves that move them up and down... You can't have both waves and swimming pathes. I think it will be better if you teach and encourage your children to swim to strengthen their muscles. Well , it's a long time I haven't swim by myself. You bring me some nice memories.

Glad that I brought back some very nice memories for you. Our children are very good strong swimmers from years of swimming lessons. We do have another pool near us where you can go and lane swim and get fit by swimming up and down the pool as it is a proper pool. Its nice to have a change and a treat over the school Easter holidays.

There is actually a pool, not one but three which are located close to home. But the owners to the pool charge $5 dollars to swim and therefore, I only visit once in a while. I love swimming especially when I have a lot in my mind and it helps to clear a burden of thoughts.

We have an incredible pool at my summer place, although in truth I was always working when we used to go there. It is indoors, but the ceiling is diffused light and the swimming lanes are 75 feet long and the pool is 42 feet wide (half Olympic) I did swim there last summer and plan to do it more this summer. We'll go there for a few months and play golf and swim and eat well and paint watercolors and hike. What a life!

Heyya Anne! That sounds like a blast. I loved taking my kids swimming when they were smaller. I wouldn't call the pools in my area "posh" but they sure were a lot of fun..LOL. We do have this indoor water park that I have been wanting to go to. It includes a night in the hotel and the water park passes. I may have to finally go this summer when I have some time off. My youngest is still young enough to want to do stuff like that. I might even be able to wrangle my older daughter in to it after she has the baby. Glad you had a grand time!

I have not swam in years! I could go and swim at the nearest high school and use their pool and hot tub! I don't because I am not great going to places I am not familar with unless I go with someone who is! I have no swimsuiteither. I would like to buy one but they are darn expensive and I don't think I would be happy with buying one because I am morbily obese! I would love to try to find a swim suit that makes me feel comfortable but that is so hard to do! I wish somedays I had been born with a body I could wear a bikini! Even when I was not over weight I couldn't pull it off becasue of the way my body is! That is just a dream I have that will never happen!

There is a community swimming pool in the next county up from us that has a water slide, a lazy river, a whirlpool and also a shallow play area for smaller children. In addition to that they do have an exercise pool that people can get in to swim laps and that sort of thing. I love taking the kids up there occasionally to play in the pool because of the fact that it is something that is fun and they are open year round.

Although the village that we live in has a clubhouse which has a pool, we do still go out of our way to find pools which are mostly fun. The community center 15-minutes away has a big slide, and some shower umbrellas within the pool but we haven't been there in a while. I know the kids have already made plans now that the sun is out most days, but they still have to tell me when.

I remember in my childhood to have visited many water parks. Despite the one "closer" to my house, is located over 60 kilometers. I enjoyed a lot in the slides overhanging the water, the wax pool with artificial waves, the so-called "slow river" that consisted of a stream with a boost in the water that you drew. So in short the fun never missing. I'm sure that if I were to go back now, maybe not experience the same sensations as before, but surely I would spend a day of fun.

i loatheeee swimming!! the going, the getting ready and getting your swimsuit or bikini on. or worse, when you have it on under your clothes and that uncomfortable car ride to the pool. then the fight for a locker with a working lock. the dreaded walk to the pool side. and then the chlorine smell that makes your eyes water. then getting out of the pool. nipples on parade. getting a shower with a door that barely covers your modesty.. and then the soaking wet car ride home due to the fact none of the hairdryers actually work. NOOOO THANKS! lol..

I just visited a resort last Thursday. It's a water park with loads of slides. We enjoyed our stay there since it's been a while since I last visited a water park. This is, there are 2 long lines just to slide down their attractions. 1 line is where you wait for someone to finish and pick up their "tubes" or lifesavers or whatever people call them. Another one is the actual line for the slides. The most embarrassing part is that people are actually watching and waiting for people to slide down. I really envy those who can swim because at my age of 27, I still can't swim well! Lolz! I can float and swim (without moving my hands and arms. You know, the one which you only place your hands in front and you swim) other than that, I don't know anything else. Lolz! It's great to hear that your kids can swim. I'm sure you had a wonderful time :D

Yeah, I don't really swim on those kinds of pools. Still, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Especially this season.
