Do the students now learn much than before?

I think student learn better these days than before. My view is borne out of the fact that there are so many books and electronic gadgets these days compared to the grand old days when there were only a handful ( fewer numbers ) of writers and also there were lesser number of scientific gadget. In those days everything, you do as far as learning is concerned is done through the hard way. Now there is the internet which is a cheaper means of accessing information. In the good old years of the past there were no internet, a student have to look for books that will give him the information that he or she is looking for.

I think I agree with you that today's students learn more than us. The easiest example is English subject. I learned English for the first time in Junior High School. I was about eleven or twelve. I learned my first vocabulary such as number and animal when I was that age. Compare with children today. In my place children start learning English at very early age. They learn English at five or six. With this kind of difference I can say that today's students learn more than before..:)

I guess we can say that maybe because the teaching method today are more advance through the help of modern technology. Students now can do research more faster through the use of computer. So gone are the days when you have to stay long hours to look for an answer to an assignment in the library doing research.With modern technology students today can comprehend easily and more faster.

I actually think the kids are born smarter these days. And I do believe that students are learning much faster then they used to in the past. And technology is the key. We always need to evolve otherwise we will wither and die.

Well, i don't think student currently learn much more than that of the previous generation. I agree that we have computer, high technologies, internet,etc. Then searching documents for student's study and reach is easier only. However the basic knowledge is still in books and we all learn from books. Even the internet decade now, we still have libraries for student finding, reading documents related to their study. We did go to libraries too before. See, I can use a computer, my mom does too even though she didn't learn it from school because there was not computers when she was in school. So how do you think about it?

Obviously,of course and whatever to add up with that.I was in my eighth grade--i had very silly lessons (atleast silly to my sister) She's now doing her 12th grade and lo! Her lessons are too tough for me, maybe i've not read that good...Haha.. i never fair well in my studies--(That's the TRUTH)But my sister atleast is not like that.She always bags the first rank.Weird one--she never leaves anything inside books-the text book ones! And yeah--this technology- i completely agree with.Mostly it's the computers-the projects they do,the assignments-everything's because of this internet-it sure does serve a great purpose in our study.But my sister plays as well.It all depends on how we sort out with our time plan.My sister has a time-table for everyday in which you could find atleast a half an hour break for playing out some game or the other--depends--mostly shuttle or badminton for her though.And i'm hoping she would keep up her good work.

My son is a grade 2 pupil. And I found that today his lessons are much more difficult than before. And he has much more to learn in his spare time, such as English and playing the piano. I love China

I think so. These year technology develops quicker than any time before. There are a lot of new things come out every day. To lead a normal lie, you have to or force to know how to use them in a correct way, and after you get how to use them. Something new come out. Learning is the main topic for todays' students, and they have to spend all their lives on that.

I think that in many ways the workload rather seems larger for many reasons. Now whether students actually learn anything, it really does depend. A teacher can assign a lot of work, where the students have just learned absolutely and positively nothing. Which has happened so many times before that it is not funny. I think that the workload is insane. It was starting to get rather insane when I was in late grade school and early high school and that was less than a decade ago. That just shows you how much things are going to turn over in an excessive way. I really think that this causes the standards of school to drop, when students suffer burn out from too much work. Eventually only all but the most serious students will throw their hands in the air in defeat. And even they will feel the heat.

hi, because of the help of new technologies now a days,because during my high school days,i dont have any idea about computers because we didn't have computer at school so no knowledge about it,but when i was in college,it makes me more knowledgeable to the things i want because of the help of the internet.

I think that every succeeding generation of students have more knowledge and more coursework to do compared to the previous generations. I once asked for my parent's help in an assignment and she didn't know what to do. The same happened five times before I finally decided to make the assignment on my own. Now, I see that in younger cousins, nephews and nieces. they are the ones who 'bother' me when they have their own assignments. One of the contributing factors is the wealth of information and the discoveries or correction of knowledge. As we become more capable of discovery and distribution of knowledge, we are more knowledgeable but sometimes that knowledge is not use properly. also, to keep interest, there is ow a great burden to teachers and parents to teach their children. Children, in turn, have more knowledge to memorize and to learn. It gives rise to pressure, stress and even losing interest in studying. the wreath of information might be a good advantage but it depends on the person who acquires and use the knowledge.

oh yes.i mean some general school kids that i know are learning things that i have learned in the first high school year.when i was in high school i was learning mathematics that my mom learned in the university.i believe they are exagerating with the knowledge level.i mean a 8 years kid to start learning ecuations?in my country there are a lot of classes that have to be taken in the same time and each of them are very demanding.i am glas that i am already in university and even if i am very busy i learn what i like but i pitty the kids today.they have no childhood.

as i have observe, students today is more studious than those before.Because of a new technology they learn a lot already.they are fund of researching until they got ask question they instructor if what they had research,,,some students also especially in rural areas they are already keep up their minds.

yeah,i agree with you ,the children can learn more than us before.there are many reasons .we can't to admit it.nevertheless,from my point of view,they have less time and less happy belongs to them.i have many free time to play and relax when i am a child.so ,i envy them and i sympasized with them.

No, they don't. Nowadays students are lazier I think. This is because of the education system that makes them lazy. What do you say about it?

I guess people are smarter before, but they might learn more nowadays, since new technologies coming out from month to month. We should respect that. People who invented those technologies long ago are really smart, don't you think? Now, with convenience of those technologies, we are too reliable on them rather than on our own brain.

I think that students have much pressure with their learning. But some of them know how to learn much.

yes this is true. When I looked at the lessons of the students in my school, its more upgraded and current. This has to be done because we are living in a world with a vast increase of technology and development. If the students are not taught about these things, they will be left behind in this generation.

No I dont think students are learning more now a days....actually the thing is, the technology is developing so fast that those things are keeping them busy. In our time there was no video games, laptops,PSP etc...After completing our homework we had enough time to play...now a days every kid has a computer/laptop, video game, even mobile for teenage kids, PSP....so after study they r busy with these things...where is the time to play? And yes, another thing is, in our time the syllabus was not that much practical oriented...we used to study theory more...now a days kids have so much practical exposure such as project work etc...this thing also keeps them busy...

nowadays ,. student's are lazier than before ,. student's before can do school thing's in the hardest way with a little money or no money just working student,. but now working student are few ,. even people that have big money dont go to school "absences" ,.
