Hello friend, I don't really think that entering or not entering into depression depends on us. Of course if depends on our emotions and feelings, but I don't think that we can control being depressed or not. And I think that when you're in depression you can feel it very clear. The most common depression symptoms are lost interest in things that you used to enjoy, a person may show markedly diminished interest or pleasure in all, or almost all, daily activities. Not only that insomnia is a sign of depression, sleeping too much can be a sign too. Gaining or loosing weight like 5% or more at mount can be sign of depression too. The person may be observed to be either agitated and restless or physically slowed down in their movements. However, when your depressed you fell sad and empty all day and you can cry frequently.
Being in depression is a horrible place to be. I've been there for a half year and all the time I was feeling terrible. I couldn't eat or sleep. I drink a lot and there was a drastic lose in my weight. I've cried few time and that's something big to me because I'm not a person who cries a lot. I hadn't been cried for years, but depression has stepped in. Personally, I don't think that they are any precautions against depression and I hope that it doesn't happened to you.
