What are the best ways to lose weight?

You can read about losing weight in many books and magazines, and many writers had different opinions about losing weight. Here are some of the ideas I read from different sources: You can speed up losing calories by doing sprinting exercises, because sprinting makes you lose fat continuously for two days. Another one is that eating five to six small meals a day will speed up your metabolism, and therefore help you lose weight. One more is that combining aerobics exercise with weight training will help you lose weight better, because the added muscles will help burn body fat faster. I have tried these three ideas I have shown and all of them seem to work with me. Does anyone have other ideas or better suggestions on how to lose weight?

I only do zumba and a little gym and walk/run every day,lessen my food intake and decipline of eating too much junk food. Indeed hard to lose weight and I'm glad that it work with me fine haha.

Hello kyle2krystel, thanks a lot for your welcome message! I admire your daily discipline of walking or running as I know how difficult it is to discipline oneself. I used to exercise 3-6 days a week and feeling proud of it, but lately I have become lazy and exercies about 1-3 times only. And I understand your cravings for junk food as I am also prone to it...plus softdrinks haha. Anyway, what is zumba?

Wow, 19,453,990 views!! I didn't know zumba is a fad these days! The three girls really looks slim and sexy and they seem to be enjoying those zumba aarobics dance steps. The second girl has a very sexy accent too! lol :) Do they have the same steps with the men doing the zumba? I think doing this exercise is a lot more exciting when you do it with a group. Just curious, are you one of those girls?

I am in the opposite situation.I have to gain weight. I don't think eating five to six small meals a day can help loosing weight..I've been suggested to do so to gain weight..What on earth is the truth???

Oh my!! Really??? Where did you find that kind of suggestion? Because now I got confused as well. Please tell me if it did help you to gain weight, then I would probably have to let go of that option.

Actually i have tried to have multiple small meals per day coz i have no time to do so. Probably that's why i am still too thin. It is said that small meals makes to uptake nutrition more easily.
But as to loose weight,sports and exercise is the point,as well as keep your regular meals habits ,do not have too much coz sports always makes you a good appetite.

Eat lots of vegetables and foods rich in fiber. Drink lots of water instead of some juices and soft-drinks that may have more sugar than what you usually eat for dessert. I don't recommend exercising too much like sprinting and stuff that'll make you sweat too much because if you stop the exercise, you'll gain more than what you usually lose because you tend to burn more energy...so you need to eat more thus the doubling of your size if you stop. Eat less meat and poultry or foods rich in fats...yeah, you should minimize the use of oil in your food. You can eat fish for the protein instead of meat. Hmm...what else? Why not walk for 30 minutes? When I say walk I mean speed-walking. At least this worked for me. But it's not because I want to lose weight. It was more because I have to keep myself healthy. Wow! the list of weight loss techniques seem good and effective. If only I could summon my discipline, I could follow your advice. Unfortunately, I tend to break my healthy routine and start exercising less and less and eating more and more. What I do now to keep me healthy is walk the dog, play with my children, drink lots of water, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and keep good company. So far, I have maintained my weight within the range of my height, age, body fat.

Good for you, watergirl! I think what's difficult in starting an exercise routine is how to conquer laziness. So the challenge is on how to continuously motivate yourself to do it. One motivation for is is the memory of how confident and attractive I feel when I was fitter. For me, the ultimate fitness goal is to reach your peak fitness but the second good thing is that you're quite good as well when you just reached a weight level that you desire and feels healthy as well.

I agree. laziness and procrastination are the enemies in having a fitness routine. The important thing is to feel happy about ourselves. I have seen people exercising a lot and losing a lot of weight but are still unsatisfied. Others are on the heavy side but still feel very sexy.

First of all, let's be practical about weight loss. This overweight business is a sign of something is wrong with you at least in the concept of looking good. You should get right with your purpose in life. Most overweight use this weight loss thing as an escapism. Plain and simple. Another thing is do you need to lose weight. Don't believe in charts or suggestion from others. As long as you are happy and healthy with your weight than its better to maintain your current weight. Hi josephsfng, thanks for the feedback. I guess I'm just a little overweight...wanted to lose maybe 4 to 6 pounds more to gain the weight I'm more comfortable with. Well, I'm not really in bad health but I felt I would be in better health when I lose a few more pounds. You see, my belly is a bit bulging now and it's bothering me at times...lol. Thanks also bro! I actually run at least one hour a day because running can extremely efficient way to burn calories and drop pounds. A 150 pound person will burn approximately 100 calories per mile when running. And if you cannot make it every day tries to have it done 3-4 times per week. I hope this will help you, Keep it going :):):)

Losing weight is not easy but it is done if you are patient with your goal: reduce some kg in a month. You should eat more vegetables instead of eating meat or fat food as before. Drink water whenever you desire to eat something out of 3 main meals in a day. When eating, better you eat slowly then you wont eat till you are too full.
Don't eat snack or cake, etc when you are watching TV, try to avoid sweet food such as candy, sweet cakes,etc..
One more thing, you should do exercise everyday, running, playing tennis. Swimming is also good for you to reduce your weight too and make your body look nicer.

The only thing that has worked for me is going running 4 days a week. It's brutal way to lose weight and if there's a nice forest nearby, you'll always get back fresh and feeling healthy !

That's a great idea! Incorporating my exercise with nature...I like that! I will look for a place where I would be close to nature and have my jogging in that place. That way I will be assured of breathing fresh air :)

I think the best ways to loose weight is to follow a balanced diet and exercise n regular basis.It works with everybody of course every body is different so it may take more time to loose weight for some than others.But it is really difficult to maintain the routine everyday doing the same thing.One should try alternate methods of exercise.

I agree with you, secretgame. I think the greatest challenge of all is to continue with the habit of exercising, and it does gets boring when you do the same exercises time and time again. Yes, having an alternative option would be good for me to try :)

I was considered as chubby soon to be fat before, but now everything has changed;). Losing weight requires discipline and a concern for your body. I never stop eating my favorite foods but there are lots of things I added for losing my weight. Drink water before meal, it will help make full very quick. Dance, don't just exercise, dance and feel the beat of the music. Change your interests, instead of food, spend it in other things. Finishing your work will do a lot;). Avoid too much softdrinks and junk foods. Love veggies and fruits, your body needs them. Well, I have this ultimate secret too, I stopped, I mean stopped eating meat fats and that's it, I lose weight;)..

I agree with you about doing exercises that are more exciting to do and brings out some passion in you...like dancing while listening to your favorite dance music :) The other parts of your suggestions are very good but is very hard for me to do at the moment...namely to avoid softdrinks and to start being a vegetarian. I admire you for that, because I think that is very difficult to do...though I can imagine you as a very healthy and calm person. I believe nature pays out every man accordingly with his efforts :)

There have been many books and articles written and even videos made on the best way to lose weight. The weight loss industry is a big money machine. With this entire hullabaloo about weight loss, the most effective way of losing weight is simply living the way you are meant to; by eating healthy and working your body enough. There is no magic to it.
