Mylotters, have you ever experienced praying and you mind suddenly goes blank? Do yo wonder what happens to you or your prayer, when this moment occurs? What do you do when this moment strikes? Do you go to sleep or do you try again?

it happens to me most of the time. i usually do my prayers before sleeping so my body is tire already. i try again when it happens. i never go to sleep without praying. i believe that satan is just tempting me to go to sleep without praying. so i kept fighting it. i go over and over again until i finish my prayers.

Itsmamanen, I like the honesty in your response. All of what you ststed in your response has also happenned to me, and more. Perhaps, we need to pray when we are not as tired as expressed in your response! As a result, perhaps, we may not experience those types of 'blank moments' in our prayer session-because our body is tired. Is that a good suggestion for us to try in the future?

When this occurs, you enjoy the moment of silence. It is your mind finally realxing and just 'being' with your prayers and your existence. I love this moment because I am not thinking about the noises around me, or the constant run of thoughts that go through my head. Instead I am just a person, relaxing and enjoying who I am in that moment of time.

i agree. maybe this moment of silence is not an interruption of your prayers, but part of the prayer. i think prayer is a two way street. you not only have to talk with your heart, but you also have to listen. this moment of silence may just be THE ALL LOVING UNIVERSE talking back with you.

MoonGypsy and Rewardsinlife, I think you are both correct in your interpretation of the silent moments of ones prayer session. Indeed, prayer- like a conversation- is a two way approach; with both parties being given a chance to contribute to the conversation. Hence, the quiet moments should not be feared, but embrassed as an integral part of the conversation with the supreme being and you. Powerful thoughts.

when we pray, we try to put our thoughts and energies towards God. in our efforts to focus on God, we get distracted by so many things that surround us. it is easy to get distracted. or we get lost in the thought that blankness overwhelms us into praying. when this happens, i say a prayer or sing a song of praise. in no time, i get back my thoughts to Him.

Hi Mensab. You have expressed true words about the impact of the miriad of things and thoughts that can occur-that may create the conditions for, and the possibility of distraction- while attempting to pray. I like your suggestion as to how one can try to remain focussed, while communicating with God.
I say continue to find creative ways to remain focussed while praying, as ultimately, you'll benefit.

This actually happens alot for me, or I fall asleep in the middle of my prayers. I personally don't stress or wonder what happened to my prayers because I know that God knows what is in my heart and knows my needs and wants. So when this happens I take it as a way of God saying I know what is on your mind, now rest. Seems a little silly I guess but that's what I do.

You have provided me with an interesting perspective on the subject., and I like it.
Note, there is nothing silly about the explanations forwarded, as we do not know how God deals with our condition (or the sincerity of our actions and intentions) when the blank spells occurs during prayer.
