This morning (Fri 13th no Less) my orange cat Tiggy died. About a year and a half ago I lost the cat that is in my avatar (Humphrey) and I was devastated. He'd been my favorite pet and constant companion for 12 years and was truly the pet of a lifetime. Several months later, I was contacted about a couple of cats who need a temporary home and I agreed to a foster situation for two new cats in addition to the one cat we still had. One of them was a big orange male named Tiggy whom I called Tink. Tink was a great cat and Tink came to stay. And stay he did until this morning when he passed. It was sudden. He didn't eat dinner Tues nite which was strange and by Wed, he'd stopped eating and using his litter box alltogether. On Thur morning, I took him to the Vet. He was jaundiced and it didn't look good but even they didn't know how close he was to the end. He died the next morning right after I gave him his medicine. The results from his blood test are still not back. A friend asked me earlier today how I felt about the months of taking care of him and the vet bills at the end etc. I can honestly say I didn't mind a bit. This little guy was a blessing and I am truly grateful for the time I had with him. I just wish I didn't hurt so much right now. Don't know what I'm trying to say here except isn't it funny that no matter how much we love our pets when they are here, we never realize how truly we love them until they are gone.

I am so sorry to hear this! Those orange cats are so special. When I unexpectedly lost Scamp last summer I was totally devastated.

You know I never used to understand the thing that many people had for ornage cats. I just did not realize how special they were until Tiggy came along. I'm sorry you lost your Scamp. It's harder somehow when yhou are not expecting it.

I have 3 orange cats right now. I lost 2 at pretty young ages in the past, so you can't believe how thrilled I am to have my oldest cat now one of the orange boys. Both of their losses, Leontyne and Mekon were also pretty unexpected, neither had even reached 4 yet.

Yes, we do tend to take the little critters for granted. I have known and loved many cats in my day. Funny and absurb as their chayacters are they sure are loveable. We never know what type of attachment we really have until they have gone. I am very thankful to have known each and everyone of them.

Loosing a cat is always sad no matter how short we had that cat or how many cats we have. I have an orange cat too. He is an orange bobtail so I call him Tiger. He used to be feral but I adopted him when he was a month old. He sometimes goes outdoors (I decided not to have him neutered) to find female cats. The first time, he ventured off and was gone for a week, I couldn't sleep worrying about him. Good thing, he always return home. I consider him special since he is very smart. He is still a year old so I'm looking forward to more years with him in our family.
