Update to a wrong location with facebook places

Facebook places is a feature in facebook where you can update your location to your friend. Although it is function is still controversial since people think it is a dangerous thing to share your location. But i do find, that many people already use this feature.
What become the problem is, i see more and more people using this function to update their location to the wrong place. I know a friend who are living oversea, and she update her location and it said that she is in her hometown. When i ask her where she is, she said she still oversea. She do it just to make a jokes. And i know a lot of person beside her to this again?
Do you know how to do this? Also do you know people who do this? And what do you think when people do this kind of act.

Yes you right about that and I never pay attention to that kind of people.
I know who make a real location update and who don't.

Thanks for you reply devilova. Can you tell us about how you know when people update their location. How do you know it is the right update or the wrong update. Because i never seen any clue about how to do that. The only way i know is by calling them or askin them.

Well updating using facebook places. They will tell us the information about their current location. Where they are now. For example, people will saying that they currently at a certain mall, how do you know that they actually in that certain mall. Did you ask them?

I know the feature of which you speak. I don't think it's very new, I think it's just been retitled. Either way, I don't use it though I could. I have a friend who doesnt' use it either but the status updates through phones now say "posted x minutes ago from (insert area here). Sometimes she will be sitting at home and when she posts a status it says she is in a different area then she really is. Another status from home says yet a different area. Places that are somewhat close to her but not where she is at all.
I find that to be hilarious. I think mine has said I am in an area about fifeteen minutes away, I happen to work near that area though.

Well thanks for sharing my friend. Sorry for the late reply, i've been in a business trip for almost five days. Well yes, it is hilarious to see people move very fast because they can update in any place they want. In a minute they might update their location in 1000 miles away from the last update location.
