You see, everyone says 'Oh Macs are great if you grave a spare couple of grand'
Well, not many people do, yet you can go along to a store like comet, etc and pick up a windows laptop for as little as 200 quid.
So:
Are people dishig out masses of money for the product, and not the brand for Macs??

There are big differences across the windows laptops. The ones that cost 200 are probably more the notebooks, which are so small because they're weak, and the programs on them are mostly just starter programs, not the whole thing.
The kind of laptop I got, last, was a PC, and it cost about $1200. It was almost the highest power in it's class of laptop, and it can play full games as well as have a 500gb hard drive, great unit that I still use today, about 3 years later. Coming down to the price, the mac type has less power, and it costs about $700 more.
Really though, there aren't many differences. The mac will last a bit longer, and you have to keep up with fixing your windows pc, and you have to know computers better to keep it working at it's best... but, even the best ones, are about half the cost.

You get what you pay for. You an buy a perfectly ordinary low powered and cheap notebook from Comet that will frustrate you with it's limitations within a month or two or buy a Mac. £ for £ Macs rival the good comparators like Sony, Fujitsu or even high end Dell, but with better software and greater reliability. Plus the looks of course. It's a personal choice; I have three Macs of varying type (actually more if you include iPods), and cannot imagine a day when I might want another Windows PC. In my opinion you get good value from a Mac. It's like buying a Mercedes versus a Ford Ka. Both will get you about but one does it in style.

To think that you do not pay extra just for this brand is naive, many Apple products are over-priced
all the best urban

We don't buy junks. Pricing is not an issue on every Mac we buy. We value high quality standard that will last longer. Apple, Inc. computer technology is always more than one step ahead of the others.
On every Macs also included a product by Apple, Inc. which is not included in other products. And, that product is called trust.

Actually, it's not just the product and the brand. We are paying for the product, brand, and the most important thing in this kind of business, the warranty and support as you can get online and local support for customer support, mostly technical. The brand actually cost something but not that much as people actually think. But for item like jerseys and clothing, brand cost a lot more than technologies item. Because Apple really do have better customer service than other brand of the same kind. This is based on my experience of apple and dell product. But for me, i prefer product with quality and in my budget. Macs would be my choice if i don't have any cash issues like if i am a millionaire or even billionaire.

I always vowed that I would never get any Apple products because they are a lot higher in price than anything else that I have ever owned. However, one year ago exactly I chose to purchase a MacBook Pro 13" because I had some money spare and wanted to treat myself so something nice. Since I have bought it, I have honestly never looked back. I love it, it is fast and reliable for everything that I use it for, and it hasn't slowed down at all in the time that I have had it, which wouldn't have been the same if I had bought a Windows machine.

Its a mixture of both really. Macs tend to come with higher end processors and graphics out of the box, as well as having an operating system that can be boasted as next to virus free. With a Mac you get somewhat better specs than a regular PC but depending on what you need for a laptop they may or may not be the best. The answer to your question in short is really, yes you are paying a bit for the brand.

Hello lewisboy11 and welcome to myLot,
I don't think so : Macs are quality products, and if you can get a Windows laptop at $200, a good Windows laptop -- a Pro HP-Compaq or a Lenovo -- will cost you approximately the same price than a Mac laptop, and it is justified because, like Macs, they will last years, while a $200 laptop has some chance to be out of order the day after the end of your guarantee.
