Friday 13th, 2 days late

Friday the 13th was uneventful, but today, Sunday the 15th... !!! My friend and I were going to go on a day trip today, but didn't get going until after 11, almost 12. We went from Hamilton to Caledonia, filled up the gas tank and headed to Guelph on the back country roads. It was a lovely drive, much nicer than taking the highway. We got as far as Cambridge when the van died on the 401 near Hwy 8. A cop stopped to tell us that wasn't a good place to park. Well, duh! He drove us to the Greyhound station, but there are no buses between Cambridge and Hamilton. Luckily, I managed to get a call to my brother and sister-in-law who live in Kitchener. My friend and I waited for them at Moose Winooski's. Two pints cost me $15.88. (Long gone are the days when I could get a schooner of beer at the Halton in Oakville for 25 cents during the week, 40 cents on weekends.) They graciously drove us home to Hamilton, where I found out I had left the stove on under the kettle... What a smell! Fortunately, the kettle didn't melt after seven hours on high. I could still make myself a cup of jasmine tea, listen to Dispatches on CBC (soon to be cancelled - wah!) and find out what's happening in myLot land. So... what's happening?

Wow! I bet you're tired. That's a lot of work. What do you plan to do with the recipes after you have them all scanned?

Well A friend and I collect old recipes. We went in together on a tin box full we found at a local flea market. There where hand written cards and some form boxes and magazines newspapers etc in it dating back to the early 1940's. So I took the time to scan and save all of those about 50+ recipes. I also helped hubby put our younger girls bunk beds together, we got the entertainment stuff TV etc. back in the living room since they have been upstairs in our room since we moved back home. As usual I did laundry in between each activity to get it done and the other little house hold chores dishes and what not.

i think friday 13th is not really a miserable day like what we had seen in horror movies. Its about the mindset of a person. Just be yourself ang thinks positive ang the rest of the day become better.

Ask him for some massages while he's at it. I love kitty massages, don't you?

Oh my! This Friday the 13th was rather uneventful for us . . . I didn't even think much about it as a superstitious day (eh, it used to be fun to be cautious about it back in the days). The weekend was busy . . . Saturday my sister came over to watch the kids while hubby and I went to go over the inspection report for the house we are getting. We also visited the house to take some measurements down. My hubby's car was rattling so I had to take him to the rental place so he could get a car to get to work afterwards - we were lucky that we were the last ones in before closing! So he went to work, and I ordered lunch for my sister and the kids. Put the little one down for a nap and my sister told me the dirty details about how they have to move in with the inlaws next month. In the afternoon we went to a birthday party for twins which was a bit of a drive . . . but they had fun. As there were games at the pizza place that we had to pay for, I spend some bucks on some games that spit out tickets - and we probably could have bought those prizes ourselves at the 99 cent store. Afterwards since we were out and my hubby was not home yet, we went to a miniature golf place to check it out and the kids loved it. Sunday we went to visit my mother in law as it was her birthday - and sister in law and her partner came too. And then we went to go visit my father in law at the nursing home . . . and he was very happy that we came. We also ate out at a restaurant with the kids - which is something we normally would not do as they are loud - ha ha. And we survived!! Hee hee. That was our weekend. Well, it sounds like you had an adventure! Things just happen sometimes . . . right on top of another . . . Friday the 13th or not!! It's just one of those days that you'll look back on and laugh (maybe - hee hee).

What a day you've had! Still funny though! It was our 4th wedding anniversary on Friday 13th April and..get this..it was the hotel we got married in that CHANGED the date. We were due to get married the following day I think but it couldn't be done. Once I realised it was the 13th I thought, "Oh, what the heck!" and just went with the flow. This MAY be why our lives are an uphill struggle at times..but we're getting there, which is the main thing. "No pain, no gain!"

I knew a couple who chose to get married on Friday the 13th, as they had met on an earlier Friday the 13th.

What a crazy day you've had bless you. My 16th birthday was on a Friday the 13th and i thought it was awful I ran into bad luck everywhere I turned. Every birthday since then has been quite rubbish to be fair.

That's not fair! Your birthday is the one day you'd expect to go your way. May the next one be better.

Congratulations, you've just survived Friday the 15th! What a day you had! It only means that bad luck doesn't really happen on the dreaded Friday the 13th, it could come any day at all.

The worst thing about the van breaking down is that it's not my friend's van. It's her mother's, who let her use it for the past year or so but was expecting it back Monday. (Her mom had a crash in her other vehicle.)

BarBara, it sounds like you're the one with all the happenings. WE have been having a rather exciting time doing our taxes. The excitement comes from arguing how they will be done. I'm the one who has to enter the date in to TurboTax, and he has to give me all the data on the rentals. Either he has forgotten how it needs to be done or he has his own theories, and arguments do make this less than routine and help keep us awake. I finished my Schedule C Thursday and I've been trying to get him in gear for the rental figures since before that. We took a brief break to go to a Tea Party Rally this afternoon, but we've been back at work for an hour on taxes now. At least he has. My part comes after he finishes his part. I hope I'm in bed before midnight. There won't be time to do much tomorrow, because he's having a medical procedure he won't much enjoy tomorrow afternoon, and I figure I'd better go with him in case he's in a lot of pain afterwards. I think they are looking for the exact location of a cyst in his urinary tract somewhere. I hope I don't pass out trying to drive him home if he is in pain. I'm terribly empathic, and I passed out when a nurse sent me to see him in the recovery room after he had oral surgery to get his wisdom teeth out. He couldn't talk yet, but managed to yell to the nurse for help when I went down. Never a dull moment. We were both much younger back then and we'd only been married for about three years. I guess it's good you got home when you did, or your house might have burned down.

I've already sent in my tax form. They sent me a really simple, two-sheet one this year. The joys of not having any real income. I'm glad my house didn't burn down, too, not this time nor last summer when the other end unit went up.
