I am teaching English in an English Academy. Our boss, our principal said that we are going to have teaching demonstration in front of all the teachers and managers for us to upgrade our knowledge. Our boss came from the different country, he's a foreigner also. He keeps on telling us that he is so smart in English grammar. He said before hand to one of the managers that he will show to them how he will be going to kill the the teachers. One day, he gave me a topic to be discuss on the next day. I really search in the internet about that topic so that I can answer any question that he will be going to throw to me. The day of the teaching demonstration came, I was standing in front of all the teachers and managers. I told them the topic to be discuss for the day, and then the boss said that I changed my mind, you will discuss this topic. I was shocked he will let me discuss the topic that I never research yet I did. I discuss a topic in the best way that I can. He kept on asking question and gladly I ws able to answer every question that he asked. Sometimes, he asked questions that were very confusing yet I thank God for answering it. After dicussing the topic he said, okay you pass! After that, I told him in front of the teachers and managers "You really frustrate me sir" then I threw the book I'm handling into my cubicle and run to the teachers room. If that thing will happen to youo? What are you going to do? Am I wrong to tell my boss like that?

I think that what you did was very brave to be honest. If we were to say that over here in the USA well it could result in a loss of job. I am sure it is really the same anywhere else as well though.
Now I think your boss must have changed up the topic to test you, as in he had planned to give you a false topic and then change it. Either that or maybe he felt you had done research on it and wanted to test your abilities with "on the whim" lessons.
Either way I feel for you as I'd be very nervous and frustrated myself.

I don't think it is wrong of you to tell the boss how you felt. I do think it was rather immature to throw you book. I think the boss was trying to see how you would do in new area of study. See if you could handle it. I hope you didn't get a bad score for how you reacted.

Is your boss Korean? If he is then he deserved what you told him. Most of the Korean bosses in our country think they own their employees, not until you stood up to them and show them that they don't own you just because they pay you.

I am glad that you told him that but I am not too happy that you run away. You should have explain to him what was frustrating you so that he can understand, given the fact that he is a foreigner. Anyways, if I were in your situation I might not handle it well. Good thing you were still deliver the kind of standard he was asking from you. But I do not approve on his ways to test the qualification of his employees.
