Does anyone else enjoy hiking? I live in Kern County and the closest place to hike for me is the Kern Canyon. Once you drive past the majority of little mountain towns (Lake Isabella, Kernville, etc.) you can truly escape the world and simply experience nature. I've been going here since I was a kid and I still love it, as do my nephews. In the winter snow is fairly easily found, though rarely enough near the main roads to build snowmen or get stuck in. In the summer it often gets over 100 degrees but still manages to be enjoyable. We seem to skip over spring and fall in this region of California. Where's your favorite place to hike?

I haven't had a chance to go hiking in a long time, basically not since my son was born. I used to hike in a place called Hawk Mountain, which is a hawk/eagle sanctuary near the town where I went to college. The trails from the sanctuary connected through into a portion of the Appalachian Trail, so I could park my car at the bottom of the sanctuary and disappear into the woods for days at a time. It was awesome.
Maybe once my son is a little bigger we'll be able to do some backpacking as a family.

My favorite place to hke is in the grand cayon.Day hiking is an acceptable and worthwhile alternative if you are unable to obtain an overnight permit. Day hiking can be a safer and more enjoyable choice than an overnight trip into a difficult area that is beyond the capabilities of any single member of your group. Be sure to prepare for your day hike as carefully as you would an overnight trip and do not attempt excessive mileages. Permits are not required for day hikes
Hiking the canyon is not like other types of hikes. You will be doing the easy part first and can go though 4 different life zones. Even the most experienced hiker has problems in the canyon. Thinking that this is just another walk, will get you into trouble and make for an unpleasant trip. Be prepared with the proper equipment, clothing and conditioning. The canyon can be a wonderful experience with some planning. This is my favorite place

Hi! My favorite place to hike is a local hill or rather a isolated forest along mountain in my local. It is one of the rarest of the places to be seen or found in my locality. In fact, there are a lot of people who still do not know that something like that exist in our place. As you said, once me and my friends are there for an hike, we are isolated from the world for the good and we just are ourself. We feel the inner peace and happiness. We shout a lot, we laugh a lot, we run, we fall, we hurt ourselves, it is all just pure fun and out of the world experiences are always the best ones.
