The Xbox 360 Must Go...

Okay, I have tried everything to get the kids in my house to get off the video games and go ride their bikes or something, anything that doesn't involve a screen. They are becoming pale, anti-social, and really quite over-weight. My sister, their mother, just doesn't seem to care. When nothing else worked I began trying to secretly destroy the Xbox 360. I have dropped it on every side. I have ran magnets around the entire thing. I have kicked it across the room. I have rubbed it all over the carpet for a little static charge. All I have managed to break is the optical drive, now they just play on Xbox Live all the time. Is there anything else I can do that won't show obvious tampering? I will have to pay for a new one if they know I destroyed the one they have now, but if it just "breaks" well hey, that's life.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond I have been insanely busy with work. I hope doesn't offend anyone that I'm doing more of a group response than individual but there are only so many hours in a day. I solved the problem :-) I got them to sell it to me at and promptly gave it away. So long x-box. In 1 1/2 days the youngest has made three new friends in the neighborhood and is up and dressing already, 8 am on a Saturday, to go hang out. The eldest was bummed, he thought he would get the money and still borrow the console, oops, but he is fine now and posting his games to sell them. I showed him how much his reactions were like a junkies through you tube and he decided on his own that's no way to live. YAY! They haven't asked for another yet, here's hoping they never do.

WOW that is all I have to say is WOW. I can understnad your want and need for them to go outside and do something other then play video games but to try to destroy it? I am an aunt too and keep my niece and nephew a lot on the weekends. If they are inside more then outside I just give them a look and say "GO OUTSIDE NOW!" and they do it. If you want to do anything, take the power cord from it and hide it. If you're sister or the kids get upside raise heck about it and let them know they need to go outside and stop wasting their lives indoors.

I understand your frustration but there is nothing you can do as you have said that they are very much into it. I can't blame you if you want to destroy that thing. Maybe you can try to encourage them than force them to appreciate other activities that involves physical activities.

You are just plain awesome. But breaking the thing they loved most would actually break their heart and many becoming more anti social and grieving for it for some time and your sister would just buy a new one to keep them happy and maybe because the kids annoys her for it. My suggestion is that you to become awesome and let them know you are. Try to get in an interesting activity with them like go for paint balls, bungee jump, and stuff that are interesting to them. Not to get over myself, but my cousin sons always look up for me and join whatever stuff i did and i just allow them to see what i was doing and they automatically interested in it. But not with the bad stuff that we did only with our friends. Make them look up for you and do some activities with them, not like riding a bicycle or playing roller blades, but a real fun stuff. They'll like it and maybe next time you can ask them to ride bicycle with and telling them you're searching for something fun to do, but do not lie because you should actually search for something while riding the bicycle. Because if you lie to them, all they will do is getting frustrated and when you asked them to go out with you, they maybe would say "Nah...i'm tired" or stuff.

Get everyone out of the house for a day then open up the Xbox. brake the cooling fan and the Xbox will overheat from them using it to long. you could also cut an important looking wire or two. make sure you have enough time to put it back together to.
