Ever find money in a parking lot? How much did you find last? I usually find coins, especially just pennies. My dad just thought he had found $20, but he opened the money up and here it is just some fake money with a used lottery game (or something to that nature)on it. The number and such looked so real at first, cause it was folded up. It was when he opened it he found it was just as fake as can be. Sigh. How disappointing, huh?

I have found money many times, not just in parking lots, but just also on sidewalks or on the street. I found a $20 bill just last month taking my evening walk. I find coins frequently and I even stop to pick up a penny. They add up. Best of all, I have found a $100 bill at least four separate times. This has not happened recently. I am talking about over the years that I have been finding money. I long ago leaned to "look" for money. People lose a lot of money.

Currently, I live in a very nice middle-class neighborhood. I live next door to a very nice small shopping center. We have some nice stores and affluent people come to shop.
But my previous neighborhood was the student area. We have a huge university, The University of Texas. Many wealthy kids attend. They would party hard and lose their money. Plus you should see what they threw out. A lot of the students came from really wealthy homes and didn't seem to care what they threw out. I used to find some great stuff that was really expensive.
I really used to find a lot of money in my previous neighborhood, not so much in this neighborhood. When I had nothing to do in my previous neighborhood, I would take a walk to see what I could find.
But you can find money anywhere. A really good place to look for money is an entertainment district.

I haven't found money in the parking lot but my daughter has. Several times she has found money. And she found an old ring a while back too. SHe is a lucky gal. I wish that I had her luck. It ebbs and flows. Doesn't happen all the time. It is disappointing to find something you think is one thing and find it to be something all together something else.

I've maybe found up to a dollar laying on the ground, a penny here, a penny there. I used to work for a dollar general and I'd find coins around everywhere. It's funny how many coins I'd pick up off the floor from inbetween coolers, and I'd always just put them in my till as it was just pennies.
When I used to work for a restaurant this one couple left me $20.00. They were well off and knew the owner, came back several times whilst visiting and got a different waitress each time so we all got $20.00.

Most people at a dollar store pay in change, $1.00 or $5.00 increments. When I worked for one, I had one person who came in with A CRAP load of pennies once.

Oh no, pennies. That must have been a huge pain in the ____ to count. I hate it when people do that on lines, they hold everything up. Luckily I don't see it too often. Maybe it was all they had, or just wanting to get rid of it. I'd be embarassed if I had to do that though.

I do find them alot in those dollar stores too, in between the cashier aisles, especially. That is awesome about the $20. tip you got from the restaurant couple, they were generous. It helps to be well off to do that, and luckily they were.

I have found change and small bills relatively often, but I actually did find a good amount of money on the floor of a store once as well. The amount of money was not a huge sum, but it was definitely enough to have potentially been a person's grocery money for the week. I turned it in to the store, and let them know where exactly I found it, even though there was nothing to identify the person that had lost it. The store took my contact information, and when nobody had claimed the money in a set amount of time I got to keep the money, so not only did I have a good feeling from knowing that I did the right thing but also got an added reward in being able to keep the money.

Thank you for saying that I am a good person. I do not think that I am that good - I just did what I would want someone else to do for me. I know how difficult it is to make ends meet these days, and every penny counts, so I put myself into the other person's shoes and thought how I would feel to lose that sum of money.
When we find coins or a dollar bill on the street or even on the floor in a store (as long as someone has obviously not just dropped it), then I will let my little one pick it up and put it in her piggy bank when we get home. However, I also want her to know that just because she finds something it does not mean that it is right to keep it when she knows that it is not hers, so it was a good lesson for her as well. Of course, she is too young to really understand this, but I think that seeing me do what I think is right will stay with her and eventually she will understand and hopefully do what she thinks is right as well.

Well, that is being a good person and not that many people would have probably done it in that way. So I commend you, am proud of you in fact. I know how difficult it is to help keep ends meet too. You taught your lil one right too so she will grow up with the same exact good values. Bravo!

The most I have found in a store was 25 cents. That was so nobel of you to return the money, good for you. I hope they didn't need it, but as no one claimed it I suppose that it was yours to keep via the store policy. It is better to have a good feeling than have the greedy minds and never return it at all. You are right. You are a good person.

Hi NailTech, I never found money in a parking lot but my nephew was once found IDR20.000 (equal to $2) and he told his mom that he found money, but his mom told him to give it to a poor woman because the woman deserves the money. But I ever heard story from the old people about finding money, we need to be careful when we find money on a street because it could be a trap, like someone using black magic to seek for victim. but I dont know about it because it is beyond belief or not, if I find money I would prefer donate it to poor people or give it to beggar.

I've found $5 twice, the second time about a month ago, right before I went to school. I wish I could be lucky enough to find a $10, or a $20...

I've found twenties a couple of times. Usually it's small change like pennies or quarters. I still pick up the change and toss it in my change jar when I get home. It does add up over time.
One of the times I found a twenty I asked the clerk at the gas station for change. I then had her come around from behind the register and I gave her one of the tens. She looked at me very funny and I told her that I usually share the wealth when I find large amounts of money. The woman cried! She had three days until pay day and didn't have enough gas in her tank to get her back and forth to work for three days. That ten was going to give her the fuel she needed for work. It was really funny because she was trying to think of someone who could loan her that much money until pay day.
The second twenty I split with my boyfriend. We found it outside our local Target store. I used that money to buy myself a "fun" gift.
There are times where we can be so disappointed...I thought I had found a silver dollar on the ground and it turned out to be a washer.

It is a pretty regular thing for me to find some coins on the ground and I will admit that I always pick them up because a few cents does eventually add up to a dollar. As far as larger sums of money, there have been at least two times that I can think of where I've found at least five dollars at one time.
The first time was when I was a child and it was at a very busy church festival. I found five dollars at that time. The other time was when I was in elementary school as well and our school was doing a promotion where the student that brought in the most store receipts from Kroger would win 20 Susan B Anthony dollars each month. Well, whenever we went to the grocery store I would pick up receipts that I found on the ground and I would also take receipts that were at the top of the trash can. Well, I pulled a twenty dollar bill out of the trash can as well.

Oh my, $2000.??? That is a major windfall, and I hope he saved it up and bought something useful with it. Sounds as if your whole family is lucky, wit your 9 yr old finding $20 and you finding $80. All this money finding is making me crave more money now, LOL.

That was very noble of you kids to turn that money in, my dad did that once long ago too. He is an honest person and wouldn't even have accepted any reward for finding anything. I can't remember if he said there was any money in the wallet now or not.

This things often happened to me when i was a child playing around places than i am now a teenager. But the most highest amount i ever find myself is about $5 at a time. But my brother and friends often share their findings because sometimes they get like $20-$30 at a time and as a child, we think about friends first because we don't know what to buy other than ice creams or candy. So, we share. It's been a long time since i get to find money like that. But at least i got the experience. Haha...

I've found coins in parking lots many times, but nothing more than coins. I did find a five dollar bill in a woodpile one time. Considering the woodpile was out in the country, that was a little strange. When I find a few coins I feel like I've won something great!

When I was small the smallest find was 1 cent. The biggest amount was RM 5.00. But as adult I have found from a few cents to RM 100.00 But the largest find was S$ 500.00. That was a lot of money. That S$ 500.00 find was a bundle of ten pieces S$50.00.

The find was at Singapore Immigration on the floor at the check-in counter. It was more than 10 years ago. As I said it was a bundle of 10 pieces of S$ 50.00 without wallet or envelope. If it was in a wallet I could have return to the owner as there was details of the owner and I can have some rewards. Since there was no details I just claimed the rewards myself as the saying, 'finer keeper'. The value of S$ 500.00 then was easily USD 280.00 or more. God bless the owner for blessing me.

Wow that was alot of money to find, and yes I understand about the $$ being wihtout wallet or envelope. It was almost as if someone purposely put it out there for someone to find, right? Awesome, and God Bless. I hope you put it to good use.

I've never found money in a parking lot, but I did find $20 on the floor of a bathroom stall as a child. I wanted to try to return it to its owner, but my parents explained that trying to find the owner of a lost single bill would be nearly impossible. So I got to keep the money to use to buy things on our vacation.
I've seen the lottery ticket money. I've had similar experiences with those leaflets that are printed on the back of fake money, but are just religious tracts.

I found $10. as a child in one parking lot, that was like finding $50. in an adult's mind of today. I'm glad your parents explained to you that it wouldn't be that easy to find the person who lost it, but that was a very noble thing for any child to think of doing.

Maybe it was just a prank... at our place, pranksters usually glue change on the ground to laugh at people trying to pick them up. I actually have my own little trick for finding out if that's glued or not without me looking to silly... I just kick it slightly :).
I don't really find big money anywhere, and I've never found any in a parking lot (mabye because there are different parking lots in my country)... but I like little money to, because they can add up :D.

Yep, it could have been, but a lousy prank at that. I hate to think someone had been watching him as he picked it up too. Stupid way to get your kicks by laughing at people who pick it up. But there are some immature people out there who do it I'm sure. It wasn't glued in this case, it makes me think someone just tossed it as the "prank". I told them to just throw it away so no one else gets' "pranked" by it.
