We have been experiencing power interruption for 5 hours everyday here in Mindanao, i am not sure if all of Mindanao but it is happening here in Zamboanga City. Which is pretty annoying as it is hot, no electricity means no airconditioning and we do not have alternative source of power like generator as that is expensive. Business establishments here already resorted to that, our office did and brought this 1 million worth of generator as it is needed to the operation of the business and it do help us or else we would be doing nothing the whole day! But at home, it gets annoying as my kids feels hot, they would just stay outside the house, play, and wait till the electricity comes back but it is more annoying as it also happens at night too! Last night it started from 6:30 in the evening till 10 in the eve, how annoying is that? i cannot even rest as it is that HOT!! i believe some countries are not experiencing this..what source of power do you have? what do you do when black outs happen? for us we end up talking non-stop...or play board games..or the last time we end up playing with our shadows

Youtube has some wonderful alternative power things you can make with junk. I don't think you could run an air conditioner, but I bet you could run a fan. I try to have water in bottles ahead for outages during the summer, then I can use a washcloth and wash the heart off with hopefully cooker water.

That should have been with hopefully cooler water, not cooker.

I have a challenge discussion for research right now. Solar ovens and solar cookers. That one you might find interesting. That combined with some stuff on youtube and you may find that electrical down time is more of an interesting challenge than a pain-eventually.

I am in Mindanao as well but we don't experience those power interruptions, well I sure hope that we never will. But some years ago, we did have the same predicament. We also had the 6pm-10pm power outages but it was different then, the nights were not as hot as nowadays, and I've been in your part of the Philippines and I sure would hate being with no electricity because your place is really too close to sea-water and it's really hot. I could suggest one thing though. You should make a lot of ice during the time that there is electricity, then drink cold water or rub the ice all over your skin before sleeping so as it would be cooler. Also, invest in those rechargeable electric fans and wear cotton instead of polyester. That was what we did during those times. I think it could help. Good luck! Have a great MyLot experience ahead.

Believe me that those black outs and power interruptions are all political.

We did buy rechargeable lights as it is safer than candles.. so it must be just in my region which sucks more as politicians who are capable of doing something is not doing something

Sorry to hear that. I've heard about that in the news and in fact i heard more. I heard that our country has the most expensive electricity charge in the whole of Asia for home consumption and only the third expensive in commercial consumption. I can't understand why home owners have to pay more than company owners but according to them it's because the government subsidized the commercial consumption. Anyway, last weekend when i went home to my parents' there was blackout which lasted for 8 hours but i'm just glad that we own a generator so we don't have to suffer much except for an added fuel expense. HOpe they'll be able to solve that problem over there in your place.

I think it is hard to live without electricity. Now a days the cost of electricity is getting very high and I am thinking of using solar lamps to save electricity. I think if more people use solar energy more electricity can be saved. I think the cost of the solar system should come down so that everyone can afford it.

Sorry to hear that, I know how annoying it is if no electricity, it felt like you're out of the circulation. How I hope they could fix the problem soon. but at least the benefits of that is you could bond with your family and friends more.

For the past two days the people in my locality has no electricity in the day time. This had took place due to careless driving by a driver. A person driving a car felt sleepy and he was gone to hit an electric post. The post was fully damaged. By the god grace the driver did not have an injuries. For it's repairs we people in our locality was not having electricity in the day time. Now the problem is fully cleared and I am happy to inform you all that we had a regular supply line to my home.

Yeah I heard that Zamboanga City has a 5-hour power interruption everyday. I've heard that of a friend who used to live there and is now working here in Davao City. He says that's one of the reason why he wouldn't be coming back to Zamboanga for the meantime.

I think it is hard to have time without electricity. We have around 30 minutes power cuts in the evening. Some places in our country have 8 to 10 hours of powercut. I think we need to save electricity so that there would be more energy around the world.

Sorry to hear that. That is very normal in our country. :) When I was in Iloilo it happened all the time. I understand how you feel especially during summer. Browout is very famous in the Philippines. I am in the US now, not even a single day having a brownout here, though its very hot as well like today. Hot during the day time and very cold at night. Hope your electricity will goes normal soon. God bless.
