Good morning myLotters!
I would just like to address a concern regarding people with defect in their vision or eye sight. I really wonder why it would always come to their minds that they should avoid wearing eye glasses often, because it would only further worsen the blurriness o their eyesight. Actually, its the other way around.
I have met so many people who always explains to me that they avoid wearing glasses becuase they don't want to stress their eyes with the strain glasses bring.
I am a near sighted person, with a grade of -4.00. That grade is I think, a bit high already. And like before, I don;t wear glasses simply because I don;t like to wear one. It makes me feel like I am 5 years older than my actual age. But then, when I had my eyes checked again, the grade went from -1.25 to -3.75. It was a very drastic soar for me. The ophthalmologist advised me that I should wear glasses ALWAYS. She explained that the grade in the glasses will serve as support for my eyes, since it is not working properly anymore. She said that if I don;t provide support for my eyes, it would be really stressed, thus, accelerating the eye grade, making our vision more blurry. wearing those eye supports would help lessen the possibility of accelerating the eye grade. BUt she suggested that if I really don't like to use it, I can use graded contact lenses. That way, I can avoid the strain from glasses and the uncomfortable feeling when I wear glasses.
That is why, for those guys who have defects in their vision, have it checked annually, use eye support (glasses or contact lenses), and never abuse our eyes (like reading while lying down, against the light or in the dark).
I hoped this helped a lot,! for any questions, just hit comment.
:D

Goodthing that you can reduce the gradee. I got bigger grade and astigmatism. I checked my eyes once every two year. The minus grade is not shifted. But got worse little bit in astigmatism. Maybe should do your last advice.

astigmatism is brought about by the stress and strain encountered by the eyes due to over usage, especially that we don't have a 20-20 vision, we tend to force our eyes to really focus, thus it is more prone to strain. yep. better do the check up annually. in that way, you can also monitor the shift of your eye grade.

If the refractive error is minimum, one can manage without wearing a glass, but that would definitely have an adverse effect on the refractive status of the eyes. But if the refractive error is of high grade, one is compelled to use glasses to have a clear vision, otherwise, one is supposed to compromise with one's vision. Moreover, proper correction of refractive errors, be it with glasses or with contact lens, is necessary to keep the growing tendency of the refractive errors to increase in check if not remedy is possible.

I was told the same by my doctor. If we don't use glasses, our eyes would get stressed from trying to focus thus, increasing the grade. I use contact lens and glasses too. The doctor told me that the moment I remove my contacts I have to use my glasses to avoid eye strain and the risk of increasing the grade.
