i do want to be knowledgeable in how to repair some appliances like computer, electric fan or even a radio. it is cool when you can do it yourself. not only would it save you money but you would be able to keep things working any time when it got broken. but i don't know actually know how to. but i do fix some things at home. some things that does not require much knowledge. some things that just need some common sense to fix some things. it feels great already when i get to fix some simple things. i am sure when it is something that requires a bit more knowledge that it will feel much better or more satisfying.

Yes it really feels great to accomplsh such household task. In out our as long as I can fix some things, I do it by myself like replacing faucets, light fixtures, flat iron and even sewing shoes. But in some country, this is strictly prohibited. Even changing busted lights needs to call for a licensed electrician. You might get punished when you do this by yourself.

I didn't know that changing blown lamps will require a licencsed electrician. It's such a simple job that almost anyone can do it. Which country are you talking about may I ask? They must have lots of licensed electricians not to mention others as well.

Not really licnesed but authorized or trained by the government. I think it is in New Zealand if not istaken. I have a conversation with the brother of my co-worker. He said that replacement bulbs have serial numbers. This will be used for the insurance of your house. If a fire caught your house because of those light bulbs installed by your own, your insurance will be forfieted. I also heard that even trimming of trees in their yard needs to call for service company.

Yup it's good to know how to fix everything at home. But sometimes appliances require service centers where in they have all the equipments available to fix these appliances and we don't usually have them at home right. But minor problems can be fixed I believe, and also when you have knowledge about fixing broken things at home you can save time and money it is surely great.

I often wish that I was able to repair my own things when they are broken. Unfortunately I am not very good at that kind of practical things and I am not able to fix the computer problems that I experience. I think it would be so nice to be able to solve that kind of problems without help from other people. I would save money and I would also be much more independent that way. Today I have to wait for someone to fix the computer when it is broken. My husband's brother often helps us, but he doesn't live near our home so he is never able to fix the problems immediately. I would love to be more independent

I must admit I'm a pretty good fix it man. My best quality is being stubborn and not giving up. Information is key to fixing things. Your local library can help. They have books that can show you how. The internet is great too. I can't count how many times I searched the internet to learn how to fix this old computer. Fixing things can be a good challenge. You learn something every time. Soon you capabilities grow until you can do most anything. I've done plumbing, electrical, computers and even roofing and carpentry. Yes, I might be slow but things get fixed in the end. My latest was an old garden tiller I picked up. After all was said and done, it was a bad fuel pump. Ah yes, just in time to plant that garden. Maybe I'll grow a big fat watermelon.

If you really have that ability to figure out how to fix things, then that is a great feeling. And I have in the past, been able to fix things to the point where they work well. Of course, I'm far from an expert on everything but I am an expert on enough things to save myself some extra money and not have to call out the professionals. Sadly, there are times where things go bad, where I am rather way over my head. And obviously, if I had tried to fix it and not know what I was doing, I could hurt myself or others. Or I could really just mess up badly, and have a more costly fix that is needed. So I have to know my limitations and when it is time to call in the help, much to the dismay of my wallet. Still I try to do things myself at first, even if it can backfire.

I have some of the knowledge to fix appliances in my house but not much. Since most of the time my dad would do it. My dad is the man all me and my siblings would search for if we have some kind of trouble fixing thing like computer, searching for places, and he would know it all and everything. I have a great dad ! That's why i would like to be like him when i actually have children of my own, so if they were lost in something there's someone who they can reach.

Yes it is satisfying to be able to fix things around the house yourself. Not only does it saves money it saves a lot of time and inconvenience. Just imagine that you have just tripped the circuit breaker of your house/apartment due to faulty appliance and the whole place is thrown into darkness and you'll have to wait for hours on end to get an electrician to come and fix it. You only need to unplug the offending appliance and reset the circuit breaker which takes maybe 5 minutes. Of course you need to be knowledgeable but seriously nowdays getting the information you want is a piece of cake - you just turn on your laptop /computer and search or ask for advice. I'm very sure you can get all the help you need to fix the problem. Just be a liitle creative and diligent.

I already started with that as a kid and I agree it's cool if you can do it yourself. My kids are doing the same. It mostly isn't a waste anyway if it's broke already (and ready to throw away). Only by doing it you will find out how something is working and how it can be fixed. Only pity thing is that many things are made the way you can't fix it anymore. It's made to be broke after 1 year (or earlier) and you are forced that way to buy something new (the only way to make money).

I also get satisfaction or sense of fulfillment if I get to fix my own things and not rely on other people. Aside from it may cost you money, you learn new skills and that is what matters the most. Learning can come in many different forms , it maybe the hard way, the easy way, or the fun way.

It is a really great feeling to be able to take care of things in your own home by yourself. To not have the need to hire and pay someone else to do the maintence for you! I too am not that knowledgeable in home repair. I seem to think I am when deciding that project needs to be done, but when it comes to actually getting in there to do the job I'm a little more than lost. With the cost of living these days I think we would all be better off if we could handle a few things on our own. But then again, there goes the living of the handy man ;)
