What happened to real denim?

I mean denim jeans for women? REAL denim, not the stretch denim. A couple weeks ago, I got a rip in my only pair of jeans. I only have one pair because I'm trying to lose weight and I don't want to spend a lot of money on clothes that I wont be wearing that long. After a few more times wearing the jeans, the rip got really big and half my behind was sticking out. So I had to go buy a new pair of jeans. All I can find are stretch jeans! I want REAL denim. When I wear the stretch jeans they're a bit tight for about 10 minutes, then after about an hour they're constantly sliding down. I'm always hiking them back up. They are the most uncomfortable things I've probably ever worn. Now, I realize that our society has gotten a bit on the heavy side and some women might find these jeans more comfortable in the size they want to wear. And even though I'm overweight, I still think it's unfair that I have no choice in wearing stretch or real denim. I went to three stores and the only way to get real denim is to buy mens jeans - which fit even worse than stretch jeans. Am I the only one that wants to wear real denim?

It is very hard to find a pair of jeans that are made out of real denim for women anymore, you are right. I have found that most of them are the stretch kind too. I guess I have just learned to grin and bear it. I have the same problems you do too. I don't know what to advise as I've had the same experience. If you find a particular brand that is real, please let me know. Good luck in your search! Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

You may have better luck if you go to a farm or feed store, if you have any near you. Around here we have Orsheln and Tractor Supply. I have bought denim jeans at Wal Mart, but usually get mine at the thrift shop.

GardenGerty - Walmart was my 3rd stop so I gave up and bought the stretch ones. We do have a farm supply store down the street, I am going to be checking them this weekend! Thanks!

OMG Reinydawn! I was just thinking the same thing. I lost 25 pounds since I last bought jeans and was horrified at what passes for denim now. It is so thin and undenimy. I want the thick and soft denim that you can see the weave, if you know what I mean. The jeans I saw at the mall were made of such thin smooth material. They are just unacceptable. So, I am on the search for real denim jeans.

Go to a farm supply store. Buy Wranglers. I am usually not comfortable in jeans at all and most of mine have come from thrift shops. I just know that for work jeans for my son or my husband I always got them at Orsheln's or at Tractor Supply. I am not sure what type of farm and feed store you might have in your area. My guys always preferred Wranglers and they do make women's jeans.

Thanks! I've got a place that I pass every day on the way to and from work. Definitely going to check them out this weekend!

My sister seems to have trouble with these stretch jeans getting baggy after a short time during the day too. I do not have these problems. My jeans are stretchy, but I wear a belt. I hate the feel of my a$$ hanging out the top of the back of my jeans. Have you tried a belt?

I'm most likely going to have to get a belt, but they're still going to feel uncomfortable. I'm just out of luck on this one. Fortunately, I don't wear jeans too often during the summer!

hi there, good thing i still have the real denim heheheh i have stretch jeans and that but i have the real denim and it is a straight cut style. i like denims because it can go with anything, but i like it better when it's the skinny type, well maybe it depends on what i am matching it with.

Yes the new trend of jeans is the skinny or the stretch jeans. I think it's comfortable and softer than the old style. but if you want a pants that will fit you well, try to go to tailoring so they can make you a pants that exact your size, and they can also customized the style that you like.

Maybe after I lose this extra weight I will, but I can't afford to spend that kinda money for something I'm not going to be wearing long. Hopefully I wont have to resort to that though...
