Shorting short term bond ETF funds

Since short therm bond funds are paying low interest and tend to have a low volatility index, would it be wise to short sell a low yielding short term bond and hold the short for a some months paying their super low interest and buy higher yielding assets pocketing the spread between the money earned and the money paid as interest? Is this a viable strategy? Is there a time limit to close a short?
