Hello Lotters,
I am sure that every here has experience saving money, yes?
unfortunately, despite of my tremendous past experiences, i never quite had a chance to go that far because I've always been tempted to spend, spend and spend more until the last drop.
there was this girl that was my former classmate in the elementary, i found out by her mom that she's been saving a lot of penny from cents to paper money. i bet this girl is rich now because of her meticilous of saving. my dad was too, when we start salvaging his stock room, we found thousands of coins.
Sad though that i don't have that gene but i can make a choice now, just didn't know how far i can go (without spending a few)
How about you?
Have a nice day.

Hello CHerish14, I wish i can go back in time and then save as money as i can, it wasn't that tough back then. right now it's llike hard to earn at least one peso in your pocket. there's nothing wrong with saving money but as long as there is something left there, i think you can have a use for it in the future. have a nice day.

We try to save as much as we can. We have several bank accounts to help save money so that we don't use that money for things. Right now I've been using my paypal account to save money for things and I got about $15 in there.

If you have a habit of putting aside a certain amount as savings, you may get rich. Or maybe not. But one thing is sure, that you will have money to spend if needed. Even as a child I loved to keep a coin or piggy bank. This piggy bank habit has been useful not only for me, but also for my family when I was young and we were really very poor. I remember I loved to collect those ten centavo coins that were made of aluminum and had a fish design on it. People at that time threw these coins away because they were ugly and no one could really buy anything with ten centavos. I picked these coins people threw away, even inside the house when my brothers just tossed these coins away. There was a time that my mom had no money and my brothers were still in high school, while I was in grade school, that we didn't have any money to buy rice. I presented my coin bank filled with these ten centavo coins. And we were able to buy rice.
I still keep a piggy bank now, and this I fill with five and ten peso coins. I usually change these coins at supermarkets during December because most supermarkets need coins with all the Holiday shoppers. From 2005 up to present let's just say that I don't need to get money from my salary or from anyone to buy gifts and food for the season because of these coins. So imagine how much that is.
If you are serious with saving even small amounts of money, this is what I can give you as a tip. Of course there are times where we run out of cash, and these savings will help us a lot. But think of it as a loan or a debt that you need to pay back. So that even if you are able to spend a certain amount from your savings, you are obliged to return the amount you borrowed. It takes a lot of discipline and you really have to learn how to budget your money wisely.

Hello anne25, with my situation now, i don't think i can ever be rich but saving will give me some security. I don't know if i can keep the money near me with out the temptation of spending it. eventually, i will have to spent it for a reason sometimes i couldn't control.i will try to be more disciplined this, besides, am at the age where people expect you to be disciplined. have a nice day

I do try to save, I usually put it in accounts that I cannot access easily, thus, forgetting it exists. I don't think it's good to 'save' by putting in piggy banks because it is not considering inflation, thus, it would have been better if you just used the money now because the value would be higher as compared to saving it without interest with a lower value when the time comes.
I also put in mutual funds so that they would at least have higher interest without taxes on interest earned.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Hello Laydee, When my earnings are big enough then that's the time i would do myself a favor and put some of it in my savings account. well, my debit account is a good start knowing it's where my earnings go. though i think the interest isn't high enough but it's good enough for me

I did try to watch the 'interest' these bank accounts give and to tell you honestly, you will be dismayed upon knowing that they don't really give a whole lot.
Last year, I tried just saving all my earnings from a part time job (which was a good sum) with the bank account hoping to study how much they're going to give me. The amount is more than Php 10,000.00 (monthly and accumulating) and when December came (it was there since January that year) I was so excited to see how the money did, when I opened my online banking to see the 'movement' of money, lo and behold, they gave me around Php 8.00 bwahahahahahhahaa!!! Sheez!
Therefore, I think you should look for good venues early on.

If i really want to earn, i can earn. However, if i really need money, earning is just easier for me. For regular times, i am earning money from my allowance however, i mostly spend the most of it leaving me only 3 dollars a month from my small allowance from school. However, in such time that i am craving for money, in just a month i can reach 10 to 15 dollars. Why just so small? Actually, it is a bit useful amount which is ranging from 400 to 600 philippine pesos cause i am from the philippines. :)

Hello erjnsimon, 400 pesos a month isn't bad actually, you can save that and then use it at a later time. as long as you didn't spend it immediately, it's really hard to earn money, what more if it's online. i have earned a total of 300$ but i spend it but this time i won't i will save it

I agree. It is really very hard to earn. Sometimes, i earn money but still i need to spend it for my needs. :) . I can't even reach high amounts. But now, i am trying hard to earn more money for myself. :)

Its so much easier to plan to save then actually do it. We are tryning to build a savings right now and I am counting every penny to put in there. Its adding up very slowly. I did get a new savings account that we are putting a bit of extra money in to help keep it seperate from our spending money. That way I have to think more about if I really want to spend it or not.

Hello Happythoughts, yeah, i have actually plan it so many times since I was a kid but the expenses just can't be avoided at all. I have spent something useful in the past but right now i need to spent it on something that would be a bit of money to get something instead of spending it too much. have a nice day. /

It is one of my problem How can I save if my salary is not enough. I hate it when I run out of budget. I only have 500 pesos in my account. I am hoping that I could add some this pay day. It is really hard to save money. But i don't give up since I have a dream to buy a car on my own. Now, it seems impossible but i am hoping that i can buy it someday.

Hello Tess_Quinain, You can start with at least 100 pesos to 200 or so on. you are working and if you want you can save something here. having a car for me isn't really something practical for me, thats for sure. i would focus more on adding more money on the debit account right now. 500 hundred pesos is a huge money already, just make it bigger. have a nice day.

Me? I save money a lot although I try hard not to spend it, because I am so in need of money. I do not have a job that is why even I tempt to spend my money, I really still cannot do it. Even if it is important to buy those things, I really just cannot do it. Now, if it is an emergency, there is nothing I can do but to spend money like “food”.
Another problem is my friends. My friends have a full time job and of course, they work in a prestigious and legitimate companies and receive a high salary while me, I am only working online that pays only a cent. They would invite me to have a get together in one place. I cannot ignore them and I cannot tell them the truth that I have no money at all, and that I have to save it from the money I earn on myLot. It is so embarrassing and I have to spend again my money every time they ask me to join them.
That is my problem and if I refuse to go out with them, they think that I focus too much on work online than spending time with them. What can I do? I earn only a cent so I must save it and stay all the way at home.

Hi, Letran, it's so kind to remind us how important is to save money but for me right now this is "mission impossible" :)) My financial situation is not very bright. I don't spend money for unnecessary things. I couldn't do it even if I wanted because the prices of the most vital things go up every day. I give too much money for food.
The only thing that I can do is to save my earnings from myLot. I'm resolved to do it but I earn just a humble amount of money because I don't enough time for myLotting.

I am terrible at saving. I decided to see how much my husband and I could possibly save in a month after all of our everyday bills and responsibilities. In order to do it properly I made the chart based on net income. I have seen so many people budget their gross income to start a savings which makes no sense since at least in America taxes come out of that gross amount making it smaller.
According to the amount of all our bills and responsibilities.. we should be able to save at least 400 a month. Now we do have kids and things happen but not every month however every time we build up something of a savings.... we spend it. I told him I think the best way to save up is using our paypal accounts and perhaps a savings account at a different bank. The most we saved up was 200 once.

I don't save much just like you. I tend to spend my salary once I get them. However, I do spend it on important stuff first, like paying my bills. If I have extra, I try to purchase something that I want.
I really hope that I could save up to. I remember getting sick and spending most of my remaining salary for the treatment. It is really important that we save at least %10 of our salary for emergency purposes.

I am actually good at saving my money. Only to use it to buy something i really want to own like a car, phone, or even computers. But usually i will end up buying something else that i am interested at the point i save enough like 3 years ago when i decided to buy this samsung phone and i bought an ipod touch instead. This always happens to me but i actually like it since i won't be wasting the money on something i no longer interested in. This is also happens because whenever i want to buy something, i would check for other items with the same price range first and i do that for a long time before i decide to buy. Still, sometimes but not all the time i would regret the things i buy because i see something better at the same price range after i buy it. But usually i turns out to be great after i get to test it and i am happy with it.

I try very hard to save money. I do save my coins and have been doing my best to break dollars and keeping the change. I put the change in an old cat treat canister and wrap up coins. Once I get enough coins I dump them in my savings account. Our car was starting to die on us so we ended up buying another used car. It has put a major dent in our checking account, but we really had no choice. I am now starting to rebuild the account. I am hoping to keep saving up my change and dumping it into the savings account.

I understand that what I'm about to say might seemed strange, but it corresponds to reality. I am a saver, but only for myself, in the sense that for me, I spend very little. However, the money put aside, I give them to other people like my mother and my brother. But because by doing so I am happy, I will continue to do so! I do not care to be always without a penny below, my happiness is to give to others. You can judge me however you want, but I did so, and I do not think to change my attitude.

I am very unlucky in the case of saving money as I have nature of helping friends lending money and spending money for interested matters including drinking, gambling etc. Now being in the 2nd half of the life time, I am thinking to accumulate a pension fund linked with stock market so that an income is assured monthly in future. Still I can't dream of accumulating big money, but can plan many ideas linked with spending money

I am personally the kind of guy who likes saving up money. Definitely! Now, I don't spend a lot of money like some people do, but I also use another method: the bank.
Some months ago I deposited a few thousand dollars in my bank, but on a special account where I'm not allowed to withdraw them before a year has passed. In return, I get an interest rate of 1,75 % which is pretty good for my location and bank. This means I will make 100-200 dollars in a year. For not doing anything, I think that is great. It just requires that you can do without these money for an extended period. :)
Happy savings!
