Does the number of comments on your responses in your inbox show your popularity in Mylot?
If you open your inbox and find a large number of comments on your responses to various discussions, then it clearly means that your responses are read by a large number of mylotters. It doesn't matter whether they agree with you or not,but clearly you are not being ignored.
So my question is,does the number of responses indicate your popularity in the site?
Kindly enlighten me.

I would perhaps say that if one responds to topics posted by other users they in turn will get back to you. The other aspect could be the topic is of common interest.

Also the more 'friends' one has one can expect greater participation.

Yes. I agree with you the Number of response and the Number of comments always shows the Popularity in mylot of you. But not you only the Response Quality will desired the Popularity. Some people here have lots of active friends their popularity only have Good Quality posts and also their popularity by their lots of active friends. If you a new here then the Quality of the post desires the Popularity of you.

I think more people comment on funny responses.Sometimes the responses may be a question, and people answer them according to their thought and knowledge.

As well as being a quality response, regardless of whether others agreed with it or not, it could also be that other users know that if they comment on it, that particular user will then come back and return the comment. This gives those who left the comment a chance to come back and comment again, furthering the topic in that response box and of course they will be earning too.
I think that popularity on myLot has little to do with anything. Some users are popular because they comment a lot and get to know a lot of users well, while others are popular because they say what they think, regardless of whether it is what the other person wants to hear or not.
How do you define 'popularity' here?

Hi mysdianait, for me popularity is,people want to read your responses and also they take pains to comment on them. They don't ignore you.Everyday you open your inbox and find a large number of comments there.Does it not show that you are being read and what you say attracts people.
This is what I refer to as popularity.I know that this is not the perfect definition of popularity.Your responses are being read, people find essence in them and they add their comments to them. That's all. This helps you in furthering a debate.

Definitely, a no of responses proves that your discussion is appreciated by a lot of people. And it means you have gained a lot of friends in Mylot which is not a common thing. Very few people get this opportunity and thank God that you are one of them. So always be in a practice of making such a discussion which attracts more and more responses and increase yours as well as Mylot site popularity.
