That Blue Box of Macaroni and Cheese - I like it

Personal-sized macaroni and cheese came out a few years back. Just add water and cook the pasta in the microwave and add the powdered cheese and in less than five minutes you have a single-serve of cheesy macaroni. I'd never tried them before, but I did recently buy a four-pack of a generic brand to have for work. Now, I love mac-n-cheese, so I thought this would be perfect. And, it was - in a way. It was easy to make and had pretty good flavor (if you're a Kraft blue box fan, that is), but it wasn't very substantial. I just had another one and added a bit of shredded cheese at the same time as the powdered cheese and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm about to make another one. Considering it's 3PM and that's the only thing I've eaten today, I think one more isn't going to hurt. Are you a Kraft Mac-n-Cheese fan? Even if you prefer homemade, do you ever enjoy that Blue Box treat? Do you "doctor" it in any way?

I do like Kraft mac 'n cheese, but I've never had the personal sized ones. I got some for someone early on and she hated it, so I never bothered to try it... they could only improve it - right?

I like the box somewhat more than the personal sized ones, but considering all they had to do to create them and make them work, I think they did a good job.

In all honesty, Kraft mac n' cheese is so bland. I can make it more enjoyable by adding seasonings: pepper, garlic powder, ect. Also, adding more of any kind of cheese helps. Even adding any kind of sliced or diced meat help: deli meats, chicken, hot dogs(lol). Don't forget broccoli either! I prefer homemade any day. It really is simple to make, plus, there are tons of recipes out there. :-)

Oh, homemade is best by far, but sometimes the budget is so tight that that blue box is what it takes. But, yes, adding a bit of cheese to it makes it more "real". I also add catsup/ketchup on occasion, but today's was fine without it. I've added hotdogs, too, before. In homemade I've added stewed tomatoes. I that if the mac-n-cheese happens to be super cheesy.

I'm not so fond of the one that has the cheese sauce in the pouch. I thought I'd love it, but when I did get it, it was more annoying than easy. But, personally, it has to be really BAD mac-n-cheese for me to not eat it. LOL

Ugh! Thank God we don't get Kraft cheese here. In the last country that I was in, tins of Kraft cheese were available. Just like plastic! It made quite a reasonable pencil eraser, but eat it? No way! Macoroni cheese is SO easy to make - why would you buy it in a box?

Because sometimes I just don't have the money for the cheese and milk. Other times, it's just as a cheap snack or a quick one pot meal.
