Hello..
Yesterday during break time at work, we talk about our upcoming company outing by next week. Everyone seems to be excited and can't wait for next week to come.Break time is our time to joke around to kill stress and boredom at work.
We joke around while discussing the outing. There many scenarios and IFs that we thought like what if I don't join, the expenses will be cut down and other funny situations that we thought and laugh out loud.
Then one office mate take it differently when we joke around if the people we will bring with her won't be counted ( caused we are allowed to bring outsider that we wanted to join) so expenses will really cut down. She mad and thinking that she got humiliated in a way. Everyone got shocked on the way she react. The person who said the joke approached her and explained that it was totally a joke and keep saying sorry about it.She claimed that it's her fault to joke about it but there are still argument happen to both of them. But eventually they are okay before we all went home yesterday.
All of us got shocked the way she react in that joke. She used to joke around to us too all the time but we just take it as a joke and just laugh about it so why did she take it differently.
For me, if you can joke about other people, you should take a joke too and don't take it too personal and differently.

Yes, if you can tell jokes about your co-workers, you must also take their jokes on you.
This same situation happened here in our work more often. One of our co-workers enjoys making jokes on others. She is fond of it but when a joke struck on her, she will eventually gave us violent reactions or just keep on diverting the topics. However, if she can't divert the topic or jokes to others, she just walked-out and go somewhere else to escape us.

Yeah that is the problem with other people who can joke about other but don't take joke when it is their turns as topic of the jokes..I think we should be sports in joking and don't take it too seriously.

Maybe she got offended because out of the many of you in the group, it was just her who was particularly told that.
Sometimes, when we throw jokes, we should try to assess the person first before we are going to throw it to. Also, we have to make sure that when we throw the joke , we don't appear sarcastic. The tone is very important in throwing jokes, specially when it seems personal already.
So, next time your group knows who not to throw joke with.
