Greasy food

You know, there once was a time when I simply loved greasy food. And, once in a while, I still do. But, I have found that as I get older, I don't enjoy these things like I used to. That's not a bad thing, mind you. But, I didn't stop eating it because it was bad - just because I stopped finding pleasure in it.
I don't eat some fried foods like I used to. I do still like my seafood fried, but I don't eat fried chicken like I used to. And, if it's particularly greasy, I am prone to avoid it. I think it's a combination of the flavor too much grease imparts and the fact that the grease gets everywhere!
I grew up where Wise potato chips began as a regional chip and my favorites were the ones that stayed in the fat longer than the rest. You know which ones - they were glossy and still looked wet. I felt the same way about fries - extra greasy, please, with lots of crunch. While I no longer care much for greasy chips, I do still pick out the greasiest fries to eat first. However, I can't eat many because I just don't digest potatoes as well as I used to.
I used to love Pizza Hut pizza. I couldn't figure out what it was about it that I liked so much. Then, I didn't have it for several years and went back once looking forward to enjoying it again. I was actually grossed out by how greasy it was - I realized that they basically deep-fry their pizza by putting the dough in a deep dish full of oil and then baking it. The last time I had some, it seemed less greasy, so maybe they've cut back on that. But, I was surprised that I no longer liked it like I used to. My tastes had changed.
Bacon is greasy, but I love it - but don't give me bacon that has been sitting in its own grease, please. Yes, I love bacon, but when the fat melts and then you place the cooked slice on a paper towel to absorb the excess, it's not really so bad. However, in a buffet setting, they make mass quantities of bacon and pile them in the pan awaiting customers. They're really great when you get the top pieces, but as you get closer to the bottom, all the grease that has dripped off the upper layers now coats the bacon on the bottom. Thanks, but I'll avoid that.
This isn't really all that informative, but I know most will understand what I'm talking about. We do need fat in our diets because fat soluble vitamins require it. But, I do think that our bodies sometimes tell us what's good and what isn't, so if we're listening, we might just learn what to cut back on without actually eliminating it. Yet, despite all this, a hamburger just isn't worth eating if it's not at least a little greasy.
What do you think? Do you avoid greasy foods? Do you like them? Have your tastes changed? And, do you think a hamburger tastes best when it's greasy?

hi jerzgirl because I did not want to upset my low cholesterol i cut out the bad fats and only used olive oil and ate avocados and
nuts as they are the good healthy fats.so I never have had to take statins for high cholesterol thank goodness.nuts really are so good for one. I do listen to my body but I do love crisp well drained bacon but not greasy bacon not at all.

I got put on statins when my cholesterol popped over 200 last year. Three months later, it was down in the 140s again. But, I've noticed that my body has told me more than once when I've eaten far too much grease, whether that grease is animal or vegetable. I began using olive oil when I was caring for my mother. She loved all things fried, so I'd pan fry them in olive oil instead of Crisco like she preferred. That way she still enjoyed how they were cooked without their being saturated in saturated fats - and having the benefits of the olive oil as well. I still use an olive oil blend (olive oil and soy bean oil) when I need to pan fry something. Except if I'm making bacon and potatoes. I then cook the potatoes in bacon fat. But, that's not even once a month.

I really do like greasy food. And as a result I have gained a bit of weight through the years. Now that I am getting older I have noticed that greasy food doesn't always sit well with me, especially if I eat it later on in the evening. I think your body definitely tells you what it will tolerate and what it won't.
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I've long disliked greasy foods, and now my gut gets in there and tells me how much I should be avoid the stuff.
I've never liked fried chicken, never liked the crust, did like fried fish, but most of them have corn and so I can't eat them.
I like nice fat fries, but not greasy, just well cooked.

eh.greasy food in moderation is ok once in a while.
i know what you mean by the pizza tho-we have a couple of local places that are pretty bad.
if it's dripping greasy tho, that's way too much.there's a line between edible and just plain gross.especially greasy cheese.yuck.

I still do love greasy foods but I've found as I've gotten older it's harder for me to digest greasy food. So I try to eat foods that are not fried if I can.
I do eat hamburgers but I make them myself and make sure to buy extra lean ground beef so they are not greasy.

I was not raised in a culture where there were too many greasy foods. We have many veggies and fruits in our country and my mother only made cakes for special occations. Our desserts were plain fruit and they still are. Deep fat frying is not something I do often even if I love french fried potatoes. And we make our chicken grilled or cooked. Even in breakfasts, I always loved american breakfasts as a feast when I have been there because they are SO different from ours. We have bread an a bit of butter or jam of some kind or mashed avocados. No ham or bacon, no scrambled eggs in fat.

Mine is the opposite of your situation. I like eating
greasy fried foods now but when I was a kid, I don't
Now, I'm always craving for pizzas, fries, bacon, fried
chicken, anything that's fried and anything that's greasy.
When I was a kid, I didn't find fries and fried chicken appetizing.
I don't even like eating those because I thought those are boring food.
I also don't eat bacon when I was a kid. I sometimes eat pizza but I didn't
like it back then as much as I like it now. Now I really enjoy eating
these foods.
