i always thought i would never give up patronising hard copy editions of books but recently a couple of my friends gifted me an ebook reader and i stand corrected! the experience is as close as it can get to the real deal and though there's nothing that can replace the smell or touch of leafing through a book, i would say e-readers come a close second. do you agree?

I love e-reader. That gadget is for sure a life saver. I have a toddler and having a paper novels with me isn't an option. She could just tear it before I finish reading. Well, I personally don't care about the smell of a book, I only care about the content.

:) well some of us are extra crazy are'nt we?! wait till your baby girl figures it out that the pages flip on touch. Thats when she'll have all the fun and you'll be left admiring imprints of her tiny palm on the screen :D

i have thought of getting one because you can also get apps for them for texting and playing music. i have a phone but hardly use it so this would be a good alternative, however, i seldom read fiction and prefer to read non fiction as i am a huge history fanatic, so i am not sure if it would work for me.

Yes, since getting an iPad I must admit reading has become fun again. I was switching to an audio book reader because I am a slow reader anyway and it is getting hard to read the small print of some books. But with ebooks you can adjust the font size and brightness to your liking. It's GREAT!

Yes. I believe this as well. I have always been a book reader and it always gets me excited back then when someone gifted me a book, whether it's new or not. I love the smell of paper and even the idea of bookmarking them while reading. It's a good experience that way. But, with all the ebook readers now that's just been so ever popular lately, I have also enjoyed the idea of being able to have access to the books I love on the palm of my hand anywhere and anytime. This time, no need to be worried about a book getting lost or pages getting wrinkled while traveling and carrying some bulky books to places. Now, there's the convenience of ebooks. Although I must say, nothing beats the real paper books we've grown accustomed to.

I have always loved the real feel of a book but recently acquired a Kindle from my mother who went on to buy her second Kindle with added light. She was a paper fanatic with a virtual library in her basement but has since given up paper and gone to the dark side. I personally read way more often than I ever have before. Love it! Except for times when I fall asleep while reading and my Kindle smacks me in the face. Lol

Having a hard copy of the books is really good especially when you're collecting them but what I love about ebooks is that it's cheaper and you could even download even the most priced books in the internet for free. And I also experienced eyeing this books for months but really can't decide whether I should buy it or not, then I just downloaded a copy but I've been disappointed with the story so I was relieved that I've saved my penny by not buying the expensive book. ^^ I read ebooks and when I really liked the story I buy the hard copy later to add it in my collection.

Ahh...books... - How beautiful they are...physical books; eBooks...I love them.
Well, I'm not qualified to say; because I've only ever read one book all the way through in eBook format. I was feeling very distressed at the time, and didn't feel like sleeping, and so needed something to occupy me for several hours through the night. So I paid for an eBook, and downloaded an eBook reader: it was an exceptional circumstance for me. But I have to say I loved the experience...I mean of having the very book I wanted when I wanted, and then reading it in one sitting. Normally the way I like to read is in bed, ideally after a long hard day's work; it's a treat for me. And I like it to be a hard copy book; and yes I love buying new books, especially if I've got them highly cut-rate. And I gain great pleasure taking my book out of its little plastic bag, peeling the price off, and then comparing it to the original price (yes, I love bargains!). I might even smell the book; I love books; they are so beautiful physically aren't they. But my one experience of reading an eBook was a positive one; I might repeat it one day...the problem being I'd have to be in a distressed state, sufficiently so that I wouldn't mind spending the extra money. As I hinted pretty hard earlier, I'm one for saving rather than spending money!
