I been seperated from my ex for about 3 yrs now, I consister us to be good friends. So when he tells me he has found someone special, I couldn't help but to be happy for him. Moving on can be hard on some people but this time it was hard for me. I had to find out from a friend of mines, that my ex's new girl friend was also his first cousin!!! I freaked out, I needed some form of advice; I mean...who does this stuff? Speaking with some of my spanish friends, I found out that this is common in the spanish community. Who knew, least of all me! I'm completely against this and made my opinion clear. I probably can across harsh but I had to state my peace and let a grown man live the way he wants.

Well I have Hispanic friends mostly from Mexico, Guatemala or Honduras and I actually have heard some of them marrying their cousins and having kids with them. I was raised that it was wrong to marry your cousin but I'm not going to judge them by it if that's who they choose to love. I want to say I've seen something either on t.v. or maybe youtube about this type of thing being common in places where the communities are small. I know some of my friends do come from small towns especially those from Guatemala and Honduras.

oh so it really is true that there are some who marry their relatives. i know i have heard about this too, like also with the royal blood people a long time ago, they would marry their cousins. i didn't even know about this that it is the same with other Hispanic people. i have Spanish ancestors too, my grandparents in both my parents' sides but i haven't heard their stories about that lol

That is what comes to my mind is the health problems that could result from having a kid with someone who is too closely related to you. Now I don't know if this is true but I have met a child who people have told me the parents were related and well I only seen the child a few times but from what I seen and from what I heard, this child does have health problems. She didn't appear to have severe problems but what I worry about this child is what will happen when she starts school and kids were to find out. Kids can be very mean no matter whether it's in elementary or high school.

oh really? wow. i am not sure about this though i have Spanish ancestors, my grandparents on both my mom and pops' sides.
yeah who does that LOL well maybe there are just some places and families that are really like that. maybe they have some beliefs or something like that. i know that very long time ago, royal bloods are like that to right? marrying their cousins and relatives, thinking that their being royal blood is just within the family.
but well, let's just be happy for him, it is his life now.
