At a recent environmental forum, it was discussed there the impact of carbon in global warming. As we all know, global warming keeps getting worse every year due to the nonstop emission of carbon in the air. Many of the countries pledged to reduce their carbon emission by 10 - 25%. I hope in our own little way we can help save the earth by emulating the pledges of the government and do our share. As for me I vow not to use our car if there are less than 3 people riding with me. I will also vow to try to walk or take a bike if my destination is just near. I also vow to conserve energy more due to most of our power plants depend on coal which in turn releases carbon. Will try to do more outdoor stuff to reduce my consumption of electricity. If I have to use the laptop often, I will pick a spot which is well lighted naturally so as not to open any more light.
How about you? Can you share your pledges to help save the Earth? More specifically on reducing our use with carbon-dependent products.

I try to recycle as my general way of saving. As for special saving in the field you name, this last year I light the heater only when I´m about to take a shower. I also keep hotwater in a thermos bottle for some uses. Although I don´t like to make my coffee with that water, I can use it to help me wash the pots.

Speaking of shower... In our house I don't use the shower. I just open the faucet and fill up a container that is enough for me to use while bathing... I use the dipper to scoop the water and let the water that falls from my hair and body go to another container. In that way, I can use the used water in flushing the toilet.

You clearly use less water than I do. I could not do that now though as it´s very difficult for me to bend now. So a shower is the easiest way to gey clean. But my showers are very short.

i never really thought about this before , but i see so much on the tv about global warming , and the poor animals that are suffering because of us . so i have made a pledge to reuse every single carrier bag when i go to the shops for groceries etc .
I try to make sure that all my rubbish is recycled at the local recycle center who recycle everything to make energy or new materials .
im really getting into it really and i do actually feel very happy about the amount i am helping . Its only a small amount of help for the environment , but if everyone done the same as me , then we could do such a lot for the environment and local economy .

That is really nice. That little deed means a lot to mother Earth. hehehe...I hope you keep it up and entice others to do the same. Good thing that you have your local recycling center. I am living in my city for how many years but still I haven't seen even a picture of our recycling center (if there is any at all).

Very creative ways to conserve energy. Our shopping is too far away to walk so I plan all my shopping in one trip. I go to farthest shop and work my way back towards home. Our car is kept in tuned condition so it doesn't extra emissions. There are only two of in the house...
What else do we do...We use the lightbulbs that are long lasting and the oval shape.
we have an electric mower to save emissions. We are both 60+ so a push mower is not an option. I know that people are more creative, maybe this will get them thinking and posting.
