What is your story? Why are you working online?

When I see so many people online like here on MyLot, I always wonder what brought each person here. We all have different stories and I would like to get to know some of them, maybe as a group we can find some solace or maybe some encouragement to keep going. Are you retired or doing well financially and just hang out in MyLot for the discussions and to relax? Or are you using MyLot as one of several different ways to earn online??
My story:
5 years ago I was laid off from my 9 year old job. I had just found out I was expecting and the loss of the job which had kept us in a nice lifestyle came as a big shocker. Gone went the Volvo, the brand new house and the frequent trips with my kids. We moved to a small town, where we could pay a smaller rent and when I found no jobs a few months later, I turned to the internet.
What is your story?

virtualmirage, here's my story. I was a single mom with three kids. I was in need of additional income, so I decided to try working on line to supplement my income. That was back in 2006 and I have more work than I can do. I love working online and plan to do it full-time when I retire.

roberten, if you don't mind me asking; what are you doing to earn your income? I am always looking for new ways, right now I do article writing (well I am starting out) and various other things.

I am working online because I know that I am much more productive on here than I am able to be when I am working in any kind of office or anything like that. I have worked online writing articles for a long time, and I get a lot of inspiration for my articles from the things that I see on websites like MyLot where people like to discuss current issues that are important to them. I like being able to set my own working hours, and I can also choose pretty much how much money I want to earn and this is something that I really like about the way things are working as well.

I was amazed by my friends brother-in-law because he is earning big just working online. In effect, that person bought a house, a car and spend money on everything he likes. The thing is, he is a programmer and I'm no programmer. Since I can't program, I am finding other ways to earn online and this is the one that I found. :)

I hurt my back on the job about 2 years ago and because of that I couldn't work. Now that my back is about 85% better, I started looking for part time work. But still haven't found work, so now I am turning to the internet. Not making alot of money yet, but hopefully I will get there :)

I want to buy some nice (not fine) jewellery and maybe some other things (CDs, books, make-up) off of ebay. I just do it for some extra money to top up what I earn with my real job (from that money I earn I wanna save, I don't wanna transfer that to paypal).
