Do you keep cool whip or margarine containers for storage?

Or do you only use those you can buy? I have a tendency to keep the containers and use them for storing left overs. Some of the smaller conatiners I use in my craft room for things like buttons etc. My mother saved all those different containers so I guess I inherited her habit. I can't see throwing away perfectly good things that still have a use. How about you?

Yes, I save everything. Am a horrible pack rat. I save the Folger's plastic coffee cans to use for coins and crafts. They go through the dishwasher so easy and come out so clean so they can really be used for anything. I could use those for leftovers also but would have to label them. I am awful with clothes because I keep them for a long time thinking they will come back in style. Doesn't always work!

I do, but mine are yogurt and ricotta cheese containers since I don't eat margarine or cool whip.and yes I keep them, mostly for my husband to take food in or if I am giving something to a neighbor or my daughter like cookies or something, that way I don't worry about getting the container back. I also have store bought ones for my leftovers, unfortunately sometimes my husband takes those too and he either loses them or ruins them..

My mother always did, when we were growing up, and a big roll of masking tape to label things. They were great when sending food home with friends, packing for picnics, storing leftovers in the fridge, traveling with food, etc. Hubby and I usually keep them, but at the time of our last trip, we actually ran out!!! Sent too many home with relatives, I guess. haa We actually had to BUY plastic Ziploc containers to take our picnic food on the train. LOL

Yes I do I like reusing them like empty jars too from mayonnaise and peanut butters. Plastic containers are good for storing food on the fridge left overs and even marinated meats so the fridge will not get into mess.

I've wanted to, and we should.. it just never worked out. At one point we did start saving butter tubs, but then we'd get confused when we wanted the butter. I will usually buy cheap storage containers, like those newer ziplock ones for $2, I think they're supposed to be like disposable, but I reuse them.

I do! I clean them up and reuse them for as long as possible until they are too brittle to be reused. I keep them as leftover container and for paperclips and small trinkets. I feel sorry throwing them away when they can still have second lives.

It depends on the container, as only save ones in great condition. Some of the uses are to hold any small items like the tiny nails, buttons, fish food, pins, needles, and any other items that I'm low on now. I put a note on the top to let me know I'm running out.

Hahahaha! Funny you should ask. Would you believe I fixed our toilet with one about a year ago! I use them for keeping unused candle wicks grouped together correctly. I use one of them to keep bunches of them together. Sometimes I'll use one to hold a Christmas light on the tree in just the right place. I have a million uses for them!

I do save some.Of course hubby ends up throwing them away if he is the last one that used the container.I save them for my craft room and some for left overs. They are really good in the craft room.I use them to hold my different knitting, crocheting and sewing items in.My 7 and 10 yr old granddaughters try to save them for their use also. They use them for paper clips, rubber bands, hair etc.Lots of good uses for them. And you can get different sizes, also.Something for everyone. My mother, grandmothers, aunts, and mil all saved them.Family tradition.

Every so often I will buy the big tub of ice cream for my granddaughters.Of course I usually have to buy 2.They can't wait for the tub to be empty. They use them to store their crayons and markers in.And with the top and handle they can pick up their bucket when they walk out the door. Not that they don't have enough crayons or markers here.LOL.They like to have something to do in the car. They are always drawing or reading. So in goes books, crayons, papers, etc. When their other buckets become fragile they let me they need a new bucket. So it's time for ice cream,so they can get new buckets.

Butter containers yeah I've done that my parents have done that. If its still in good shape and all of my other tubs for food are falling a part and can't be used and I don't have the money to get new set then yes I would use them when I have to.

Yes, I keep containers if my kids don't loose the lids. I keep them for sending home left overs in to family and friends. I use them for art projects with kids and much more.

My mother always saved them, and her mother always saved them and used them again. It's funny because still to this day my grandma uses them to store leftovers and things. I don't buy cool whip, and the butter I buy actually comes in a small container (because I don't use much it lasts forever), so I don't have much use for it. I just recycle the container since it's plastic.

for me, i don't usually use those containers for storing, i mean i do have some that i do use but if i'm to specifically talk about the margarine and butter containers, which are a little on the small to medium size, i do keep them but not for storing purposes.
what i do us sometimes, i cook a little extra and send to my sister's, or give my neighbours, so i usually tend to give in those containers. some return, some don't. but it's very convenient to be used as a food container, freshly cooked food of course.

I DO reuse some of them. Mainly for leftovers. But generally I put them in the recycle bin. I have a pretty nice set of tupperware type bowls that I mainly use.
But a word of warning:
DO NOT USE THOSE PLASTIC CONTAINERS IN THE MICROWAVE! THE PLASTIC WILL LEACH INTO YOUR FOOD!

I have the tendency to be a hoarder so I have to be careful as my cupboard space is so limited.. therefore I only keep a few containers to store food etc. I am a frugal person and hate cleaning out biut have to do so several ti.es a year. My daughter is ruthless but I need her to help as I dithered. Surgery in a few weeks time. My health has improved in regard to blood pressure and my heart is beating quite strongly. I am having stent surgery soon.it should last a lifetime. Only ten percent may have problems during the first year so the odds are extremely good. I feel so good with low Hp and I am walking several hours daily. The medical fraternity are still calling me a time bomb as only one artery is working at 35% but prayeris the answer! Blessings my dear to you and your family.

Yes I keep butter containers, cool whip containers and also the containers I get when I eat at Kentucky Fried Chicken. I love using the containers for small craft items. I also use them for paint water. I love being able to reuse items instead of throwing them away.
