Cops and Donuts

I worked in a convenience store for seven years...and the county sheriff's deputies were in pretty much every morning to grab a donut or two.

I think the cops and donuts joke started because cops spend alot of there time on all night watchs of houses and such for bad guys. Need lots of coffee for those stake outs. And they stop off to check on cafes, convenience stores and the like late at night to be sure everyone is safe and all is well.( They are supposed to be the peace keepers.) And they are given free coffee and what goes best with coffee but donuts.

oh yeah, actually there were a few movies we have seen when cops would be taking breaks and would be caught eating donuts as they wait for the next call. i think this was so because donuts does work well with combination of coffee right?

I think that it's supposed to be some sort of thing to do with how lazy cops can be. I guess it's trying to say that most cops are lazy and fat, who is to say why? Most of the cops I've seen are either fit or they aren't all that chubby. I'm just wondering where and why the joke started.

In area where i live, you can always see several police cars park in front of a donut shop in certain hour in the morning and night when several uniform police men would stand around eating donuts and drinking coffee chatting the hour away, we always joke with each other if you happen to encounter a crime in progress or got rob or rape by some jerks in my neighborhood, you should go to the donut shop to plead for help instead of calling in the 911 emergency number, the police can come to your rescue alot quicker than a phone call away since they are alot closer to you than your phone to the operator, whenever you see a donut shop, you should feel safe all the time.

Ah, coffee and donuts. I think cops should be patroling the area not in a donut shop chatting over coffee and donuts. I believe this was a bad judgement call for one cop and now all cops are taking the rap. We don't have donut shops where I live but we do have Mcdonald's and I see the cops going through the drive thru on a daily basis. I guess the new fad is coffee and a sausage(pig)mcmuffin.
