Everbody has had a headache before, but when is it necessary to go to a doctor? I have a constant headache now for the past 2 weeks. Its not particularly painful, more irritating. But my mother had a brain annurism 3 years ago and her first symptom was a headache! As a result she had to have an operation on her brain!!!How do I know if its just a normal headcahe or if its something worse?

It is BEST to go and consult your health problem to a doctor. It is better early than later. The little headaches you have maybe due to vision problems, increase blood pressure or it could be anything. We should never take it for granted especially in your case where it is constant.

I'm also starting to think it could be blood pressure issues but hopefully I hear tomorrow what exactly is going on!

I think my reply is very late. :( Anyway, what was the result after being checked by the doctor?

Well to be honest if your mother has had that trouble I would think maybe you should go get it checked out. Even if it is just a headache. Now have you been taking medicines for it and have they helped? I guess they haven't helped if it is a recurring thing. I'd book an appointment and check just to make sure.

I have taken normal paracetamol and it seems to help for that day but the next day the headache is back!

It seems you really have to be concern of your headache since there is annurism history in the family. Prevention is better than cure.

You are already aware that any space occupying lesion in the brain may cause a headache as your mother had a brain annurism 3 years ago. So why are delaying in consulting with a doctor? Headache may be due to various reasons. Eye problems, E.N.T problems, and neurological problems may cause a headache. In addition, a headache may also be functional. Thus if you have any refractive error, you may have a headache and you need to visit an ophthalmologist. If you have any sinusitis, you may have a headache and you need to visit an E.N.T specialist.if you have any space occupying lesion in the brain like a brain tumour or a brain annurism or a brain abscess, you may have a headache and you need to visit a neurologist.
